Well where do I begin! My name is Jacinta and I have been a student of John Thornhill’s for the last 18 months. My story is probably like most, however maybe a little different. I am from Australia. I am in my very late thirties and a stay at home mum learning how to create a business online while my 2 year old sleeps. (Well she is nearly 3 now!)

For many years during my early adult life I worked in many different jobs, studied different certificates, I even owned a couple of small businesses (lost a lot of money too!) I was never really one to stick at things, I would get bored too easily, not only that I really didn’t like being bossed around and told what to do just to earn some money. Life had its ups and it had its downs however everything changed when I fell pregnant with my child.

During my pregnancy I had to give up work due to gestational diabetes. I had no other income coming in so I decided to dabble in eBay. I had been teaching spray tanning at the time at a local beauty college and figured I could sell the machines and how to kits on eBay. This did work for a while except when I was 9 months pregnant trying to carry large boxes into the post office!

After my baby was born, I knew I wanted to create a business from home so I could be there for my child and earn an income at the same time. I didn’t know where to begin. In answer to my questions I received an email promoting a seminar called “World Internet Summit” I was curious, however with my little one only 6 weeks old at the time I knew I couldn’t go so I sent my father in my place.

My father took heaps of notes and came home very excited telling me a business online was the way to go. I was excited and curious all at the same time. For the next 12 months I researched and researched, bought product after product, got scammed a couple of times by people selling me junk. I must have wasted thousands and thousands of dollars. I was an internet marketers dream! All this time I was still trying to sell on eBay, however my market was getting saturated and it was becoming very hard to make a profit in my niche.

Everything shifted for me in April 2008. I was sitting at a hospital with my daughter when she was diagnosed with a condition that may have needed surgery. (She is fine now and all is well). I was in shock for a few days. My daughter had just turned 1, I had no money, no job, I don’t own a house and nor do I own a car. I took a big long look in the mirror, I cried for a couple of days and knew I had to make a change. I had to do something but I had no idea where to begin.

A couple of days later, yes the world works in mysterious ways, I was contacted by a lady who had a website dedicated to spray tanning. She asked me if she could promote my training manual from her site. I said fantastic and how do I do that? She told me I needed to create my own website and set up an affiliate program. I said OK how do I do that! She told me I had to learn how or get someone to do it for me.

Hmmmmm……No money to pay someone so second choice, I had to learn how! I started reading some of the stuff I had bought, but I ended up with information overload and completely confused. I knew I had to be taught how, but by whom?

One of the products I had bought was John Thornhill’s “90 Day PowerSeller”. I decided to have a read. Something clicked when I started to read John’s book. I liked his style of writing, I liked his honest truth. Being an Aussie we like straight up honest people who will tell you how it is and John is exactly that! This was June 2008. After reading the book I knew I wanted to learn from John and would you believe I received an email telling me about a coaching program John was doing starting the first week of July.

They say when the student is ready the teacher will appear……………..

I remember the 3^rd of July 2008 very well. I was sitting up a 4 am in the morning, my eyes hanging out of my head from lack of sleep, but I knew I had to get a position in the training. It was a good thing I did stay up as the coaching program sold out in a matter of hours! I was lucky. I got in! I spent what little money I had and signed up for the 16 week coaching program. This was my beginning, however truthfully I only managed to complete half of that program, life got in the way and I only had very little time. I kept making excuses.

Christmas 2008 was difficult for me, we did not have a lot of money and I was only able to give my daughter a couple of gifts, and once again I knew I needed to kick my butt into gear. In January 2009 John was promoting his new program Marketing Masterclass. This was going to be a 36 week program. After the experience I had with the 16 week course I knew I wanted to be apart of this one so once again I was up early emailing John trying to get a position.

Again I got on, but this time things were different. I was determined, I was focused, and I knew my back was against the wall. I want a future for my daughter. I want to be able to buy a house one day and maybe even a new car, but most of all I want to be able to provide for my child as a parent should.

From the first week of February 2009 I became a very good little student. I studied hard, did most of my exercises and followed John’s program. Some weeks were easy and some weeks were hard. Sometimes I fell behind in the program and other weeks I caught up. I kept at it even if I could only do a couple of hours or even one hour per week. I kept the momentum going and never gave up. This time I did not let the excuses of life get in my way. I had many an insomnia night, and when I wanted to give up I would take one look at my sleeping daughter and get back to it again!

My perseverance paid off. I now know how to build a website, create a blog, and create a product, set up an affiliate program, drive traffic, market and so much more! Thanks to John’s Masterclass program I now have the tools to create a future for my daughter.

John is like the teacher that teaches you how to fish.

My Internet Business Daily Tasks 5-10-09

How is everyone?

I thought it was about time to write my daily tasks for the last week to keep you posted on my journey in creating a online business. If you have been visiting my blog a few times over the last week you will see I have been a very busy girl!!

Over the last week I really decided to concentrate on writing about my training program and what I have learned. Just writing about the first four weeks was enough to make me realize I have learned so much more than I ever thought and I still have another 32 weeks to write about!

Today we received our official final weekly training tools, although John has stated he still has a few more weeks worth of information he wants to send us and it may turn into a 40 week program! I am really looking forward to continuing to write this series for you. I know it is a big task, but I really want to share what John teaches in his program.

However before I continue writing any more posts about my training, here are my daily tasks for this last week.

This Weeks Daily Tasks So Far: 29th Sep 09 – 5th Oct 09:

The usual downloading of emails. (I still have to cull myself from a few mailing lists, I am receiving heaps and heaps of junk at the moment, plus I think the email has been sold again! I now have nearly 2,000 emails to go through! )

Downloaded the rest of my monthly product quota from Resell Rights Fortune. (I still have no idea what I am going to do with the products! )

Installed some plugins for my blog. (I installed “Post Teasers” and “Tweetmeme”. I will get around to writing about each plugin and why I installed them at a later stage. )

Signed up to “Feed Burner”. (I signed up to “Feed Burner” so it is easy for people to subscribe to my blog feeds if you want to. With Feed Burner you can sign up to receive normal RSS feeds or you can sign up through a reader program. Signing up to my RSS feeds especially through “Google Reader” gives you the chance to be notified every time I update my blog. I still haven’t set up the email system to notify of my blog changes so the RSS feed is an easier option at this stage. Steve from Planet Divinity made me a really cool graphic to match in with my blog. It is up the top right side bar under “Subscribe To Me”. I swear those guys do not take days off! I sent the email Saturday and received the graphic Sunday! Working weekends too! I really really love Planet Divinity!! Best Graphics ever!)

I signed up to Google Friend Connect. (Like Mybloglog, Google Friend Connect is another way of communicating with the blogging community. In my blogging travels I have noticed a few people have “Google Friend Connect” installed so I thought I would sign up and see what happens.)

Continued my blogging travels visiting fellow student and marketers blogs. (I am having an awesome time visiting other people’s websites. I am learning heaps and heaps of new stuff, but I am also meeting heaps of really cool people!!!!! )

Took care of my computer. (I have set myself up now where once a week I do an intense system scan. I do a Virus check, System check, Scan disk and De-fragment, as well as a back up of all my data. Basically I set it all up and the computer does its own thing for a few hours. It is so important to maintain your computer’s hardware and software. It is a bit like taking care of your car! If you don’t take care of your car and give it a service it will stop driving, the same for a computer! )

Downloaded Week 35 & 36 of John Thornhill’s Masterclass Training Program. (I am still up to watching Week 35 and I think activity wise I am still at around week 20 something. Just a little bit behind in my tasks I have been having too much fun in the blogging world at the moment! )

Created the “My Masterclass Journey” page. (This page will be dedicated to my masterclass training journey. The page is still in development and will be updated every time I write a post about the training.)

OK. So I think that is a pretty big summary of what I have been doing over the last week. I am starting to feel tired and drained yet excited at the same time. I may need to take a few days off and recoup!

Speaking of which my little one is asleep as I write. It is the middle of the afternoon, I think I might go for a nap too!

Creating My Business Online Daily Tasks & The Future!

Yes this is another post of my Daily Tasks for this week. I feel like my blog is slowly going through a metamorphose and some themes are really starting to come together on what I want to do.

So first lets start with my Daily Tasks Housekeeping from the last few days:

This Weeks Daily Tasks So Far:

The usual downloading of emails. (I still have to go through them all. I am seriously thinking of culling myself from everyone’s mailing lists apart from my teachers and mentors at the moment. I feel like my in box has a mind of its own! )

Wrote a blog post on the 25/9. (My last blog post)

Ordered some new banner graphics from Planet Divinity for my spray tan training website www.spraytanningsuccess.com. (They arrived yesterday and look fantastic. I actually ordered the graphics on Friday night thinking I would get them today Tuesday and they arrived early yesterday morning! Do those guys have days off? )

Placed one of my spray tanning banners on my sidebar just under “introducing the author.” (I really like the banners. I got them made for the affiliates of my product so they can use them to help promote my manual.)

Bought a software program called “Legal Forms Generator”. (At the moment I wanted to use something simple to start to create my legal forms for my websites such as privacy policies, disclaimers etc. Micheal Young’s Software makes this very easy to do, plus he is a practicing internet lawyer! )

Signed up to Yahoo and MyBloglog in order to add the Mybloglog widget to my website. (Over the past few weeks I have visited a few fellow students and have noticed these widgets on their blogs. Apparently using this type of social networking blogging service is really beneficial for generating raw traffic to your site. As you know I am still new to all of this so I will give it a go. )

Visited some fellow internet marketers blogs and read some great information. (I am having a great time visiting everyone’s blogs. It is so easy to get lost for hours. I have had to put a timer next to me to tell me when to stop! )

Visited my masterclass forum and asked a few questions. (I want to install a support desk to make it easy for people to ask me questions and at the moment I have no idea what to do or use. )

Watched Weeks 32, 33 & 34 of John Thornhill’s Internet Marketing Masterclass Coaching Program. (I still have to catch up on a lot of the exercises! )

Started downloading Septembers download quota from my account at Resell Rights Fortune. (I am half way through. I am allowed to download 90 products a month from the database. At the moment I haven’t had the chance to look at them all, but I am sure I will get around to it soon! Or maybe I will just end up with a hard drive full of 1,000′s of products that I have no idea what to do with! )

OK so that is what I have been up to the last 4 days. I know it sounds like a lot but truthfully I have only been at the computer a total of 6 hours aver the last 4 days.

Now to the point of my post…

Over the next few weeks I have some big plans for the subjects I want to start talking about.

First things first if you have been reading some of my last few posts you will know I want to do a series on all the “Internet Marketing Seminar Speakers” I have seen and what I have learned. I am still deciphering my notes but should be able to put a post up with in the next couple of weeks.

I have also decided to do a series on John Thornhill’s Internet Marketing Masterclass Coaching Program. I know I was meant to actually do that series as I have been studying, but truthfully I found it hard to write about as I was learning as I was doing it, I found myself getting confused.

I am not going to do a “how to” I am just going to write about what videos and tasks we received each week and the basics of what we learned. I have decided to do this series in depth as we are now coming to the end of our training program and I am sure John will be re opening up his coaching program to a few round of students.

“Creating My Business Online Daily Tasks”

Yes I will be continuing with my little Daily Tasks posts. I have been getting some great feedback about my Daily Tasks and I am glad that people are finding what I am doing inspiring, plus I feel that it is important to show you that there are a lot of little “Daily Tasks” that go in to starting an online business.

I like being honest and truthful about what I am doing and I believe it is important that people know that creating an online business does not just happen over night like the big guru’s would let us believe! Especially around a 2 year old who wants mummy time!

“General Internet Marketing & Blogging Stuff”

This is a new series I am going to introduce. Basically over the last few weeks I have been visiting a lot of blogs and having a great time reading and learning about what others are up to. So this is where I will talk about what I am learning from others.

For example I have been visiting Paul Lear’s blog quite a lot lately. He has started a challenge for us all to lower our Alexa Ranking using different strategies. I have decided to join in on the challenge as I have noticed my Alexa Ranking has moved quite dramatically over the last few weeks since being really active online. As far as I know lowering our ranking helps drive more natural traffic to our sites. I am still learning about all of this so I will talk more about it all at another time.

So the “General Internet Marketing” or “Blogging Stuff” is the section where I will talk about my general blogging activities and what I am learning.

I have so many other ideas on what I want to introduce. For instance I want to create a subscribers section where I can place freebies and training stuff etc, plus I want to start a newsletter etc etc. But as you know I am doing this around a 2 year old and I only get a few hours a day to do this. Sometimes I get carried away but I need to keep my life balanced and remember I am a wife and a mother too and not just a crazy internet marketing bimbo from Australia!

So on that note I must away to get back to my studies while my little one sleeps.
