10 training weeks to go! Woo Hoo!!!!! Happy dance!

Well actually there really is only 3 weeks as the course officially ends at week 36, however I have decided to write about the extra 6 weeks that we received.

4 of those weeks were case studies that John made of some fellow students website sales pages. (I will write about these in one post.) 1 is on writing our own case studies and the final week we were asked to participate in a survey.

In this weeks training we begin the final phase of our coaching program called “Advanced Tactics” so with out further comment lets begin with this weeks tasks…….

Internet Marketing Masterclass Week 33: Creating And Offering Discounts

One advanced tactic a lot of marketers use is having a special discount page for their products. This page can be used for subscriber specials, or for previous customers. This page is not one that will have affiliates promote unless you set it up for an exclusive affiliate later on.

This week we were sent our usual welcome letter for the week, our checklist of tasks plus we had 4 videos to download and learn.

Video 1: Create Discount Folder

Having a discount folder can work to a business advantage. For example, we may have someone interested in promoting our product but would like to preview it first. Rather than give them a free copy, we could offer them the discount version and possibly make a cheaper sale.

The first thing John wants us to do in this video is to create a ‘Discount’ folder and copy all of our sales page files from our website into this folder.

Basically this is a duplicate copy of everything.

Video 2: Add Discounted Product To Clickbank

In this video John shows us how to add our discounted product to ‘Clickbank’.

We are shown:

1. How to access our ‘Clickbank’ account settings to find our listed products
2. How to take our first product and duplicate it
3. How to edit the product number and title
4. How to determine the discounted price
5. How to direct the product to the same Thank You or Download Page
6. And how to save the settings

When deciding on a discounted price John recommends that it should be between 30-50% off. The bottom line is that the product is a digital downloadable item and as long as we can make extra sales where we may not have done so before, then the price should not matter too much.

If we are doing the discount page exclusively for joint venture partners or super affiliates then it is recommended to be at least a 50% discount.

Video 3: Edit Discounted Page

Before completely adding our product to ‘Clickbank’ we will need to edit our ‘discount page’ as well as renaming it.

All we need to do to change the discount page is to rearrange and edit some of the text.
For example adding in “Special price of $XX available via personal invitation only” in the heading.

Where ever we have written the full price of the product we should put a ‘slash’ through that price, add in our discount price and underneath the discount price add, “Through This Special Link”.

We will also need to edit the payment button to whatever product number we created the discount product to be on ‘Clickbank’.

Once we have edited and changed the discount page, the files are ready for uploading and for completing the ‘Clickbank’ application process.

Video 4: Upload Discount Folder

In this video John shows us how to upload our discount folder to our products website. (We should already know how to do this from uploading our original sales page. )

Our folder should be uploaded to the same folder that we uploaded our ‘Affiliates Folder’ and ‘Thank You’ folder to.

The next thing that John recommends for us to do is to test our links and ‘buy button’ to make sure everything works properly.

If we want to generate quick sales we could create a title such as, “For the next 48 hours I am going to have a special discount link…..”

Send the email out to our subscribers list and then take the page down after 48 hours.

We could also duplicate the process and offer discounts of different amounts.

There is nothing stopping us from having our main product priced at @$97, plus have a discount page of $77 and then another discount page for $67 and $57 etc etc.

As we create more products in the future having discount pages can be a great way to cross promote our products to our different buyers.

The more different ways we can promote our product even if they are at different prices, the more chance we have of making sales.

The more sales we make, the more money we make!

Once we have created the folders, edited the pages and uploaded all the files to our webspace we then need to confirm that our discount page has been correctly uploaded to ‘Clickbank’.

Important: Make sure that these products are not able to be viewed in the marketplace. You want the products listed as private. You only want invited affiliates to be able to promote these special pages!

Week 33 Checklist:

Our checklist tasks for Week 33 were:

1. Create a discount folder
2. Edit our discount page and rename it
3. Upload the discount folder to our product webspace
4. Add the discount page to our ‘Clickbank’ account
5. Test the sales process
6. Create other discount pages if we want to
7. Continue posting to our blogs
8. Continue visiting the masterclass forum and communicating with fellow students
9. Continue to visit fellow students, marketers, niche blogs and forums and post comments where appropriate
10. Continue writing and submitting articles

It has been nearly 2 weeks since I last posted. Ooops on that one!

Life has been a little hectic, I have finally been able to schedule some time now to really get focused on some study and training. The one thing I do find hard when trying to set up a business online around a 3 year old and family commitments is organising time management and allocating set times so I don’t get side tracked.

It all sounds good in theory, however before I know it life has interrupted and another week has gone past and I wonder what I have done. I wonder how many other people feel like this. I am sure I am not alone!!

OK so with out side tracking any more!

Lets begin with this weeks training…….

Internet Marketing Masterclass Week 32: Creating Viral Reports And Ebooks

This weeks training is all about using viral marketing as a form of traffic generation.

What is Viral Marketing you may ask?

Well a simple way to explain viral marketing as I understand it is as follows:

Viral marketing occurs when you have a report that can be given away, sold and re-sold (ie: have resell rights) that can have affiliate links with in the report so people can earn potential money by promoting it.

In other words I can create a report and give it to my affiliates to give away. The links inside the report to my main product can be re-branded with the affiliates affiliate link. Therefore if anyone clicks on the links inside the report and buys my product the affiliate will earn a commission.

I hope I have explained that ok?

The bottom line is, the more this report circulates around the internet either by being given away or sold, the more chance we have of people clicking the links within the report, visiting our websites and possibly buying our products.

These free reports are a great way to promote our products and websites as everyone loves freebies!!

As usual we had our welcome letter and list of tasks to do for the week, plus we had 7 videos to download and learn. This was a big week!

Video 1: Download Viral Pdf

In this video John talks about resell rights products and how they can benefit our business and promote our main product.

As I tried to explain earlier, the idea is that we create a small report that can either be given away or sold by other people or anyone that gets access to the report. However to take this idea further John encourages us to create a report that can be re-branded with our affiliates affiliate links instead of our own.

Just having a standard report to give away is one way, however if we really want to promote our product well, a brandable ebook is a great incentive for affiliates to promote our product more effectively. The affiliates know that they have the possibility of earning commissions from any of the re-branded links inside the report.

The first thing we need to do in order to make brandable products is to get ourselves some software that can make our ‘pdfs’ brandable. The software that John recommends for us to use is called “Viral Pdf”. Currently the software is $27 to buy.

(I haven’t bought this software yet or made my report to give away for my spray tanning website. I do plan on doing that over the next few weeks so I will keep you posted and let you know when it is ready! )

Video 2: Create A Resell Rights Or Free Ebook

The idea of the free/resell rights ebook is to give your reader value as well as encourage them to purchase the main product.

You want to provide good quality content but keep the important secrets for your main ebook. You don’t want to reveal everything about your topic or else there is no reason for people to buy more.

A simple way to write a free report is to use parts of our main ebook. The report does not have to be a very long one, we could easily get away with it being a few thousand words under 10 pages. We should be able to write our report fairly quickly especially if we are selecting parts of our main product and using a cutting and pasting technique!

Depending on your niche, you could use private label rights material to create your reports, especially if you want to make quite a few reports that will lead back to your main product. According to John there is no reason why we could not make 10 resell rights or free reports all linking back to our main ebook.

If you need to source private label rights material you can find a wealth of good quality products from “PLR Monthly”, “Resell Rights Fortune” and in the special offers section of the ‘Warrior Forum’.

Video 3: Create Brandable Links

In this video John shows us how to create the hyperlinks within our report that will be able to be re-branded with the ‘Viral Pdf’ software.

Before we are shown how to use the software John reminds us of the importance to provide value with our reports. Although the idea of the report is to encourage the reader to buy our main product it is not recommended to just promote the main product. We should make sure our report provides good quality content as well as enticing the reader to want more.

Next we are shown the basics of creating the hyperlinks with the tags needed so that the links can be branded.

We are shown:

1. How to create a hyperlink in our report
2. How to add the ‘viral pdf’ tags needed
3. And how to save the links and edited text

If we have any problems John recommends that we read the help files and manual that comes with the viral pdf software.

The other thing John suggests is that we create a second affiliate account with clickbank if we haven’t already. This is so that we can use our second affiliate account to promote our ebook just in case people don’t re-brand the report and we will still earn a commission for our sales. (This is a good way for testing how viral our report becomes.)

Video 4: Sign Your Pdf

In this video John shows us how to sign our ‘pdf report’.

We are shown:

1. How to convert our document to ‘pdf if we haven’t done so already
2. How to open the ‘ViralPdf’ software program
3. How to set the ‘pdf’ up to be ‘signed’
4. How to ‘sign’ the ‘pdf’
5. And how to save the ‘signed pdf’

One thing John points out in the signing process is that we shouldn’t set a time limit, this can interrupt and corrupt the signing process.

Video 5: Brand And Test Links

In this video John shows us how to re-brand the ‘pdf as an affiliate using the ‘Viral Pdf Rebrander’. (This is the software that we will supply our affiliates to rebrand our reports with their affiliate links.)

We are shown:

1. How to open the ‘pdf’ in the ‘Viral Rebrander’ software
2. How to enter our clickbank id
3. How to save the re-branded ‘pdf’
4. And how to test the links inside the ‘pdf’

Video 6: Create Files For Distribution

In this video John shows us how to prepare the ‘pdf’ and software ready to be given away for people to promote.

The ‘pdf’ that we need to use is the ‘signed’ one that we created in Video 4. Before we include the rebrander software we should brand the software with our own affiliate link!

If one of our affiliates uses the software and then decides they like the program and decide to buy through our link, we can earn a commission. (I like the idea of that! )

OK getting back to it. This is one big week. 1500 words already!

Once we have branded the software we can then find the ‘Pdf Brand’ file that we need to include when distributing the report.

One thing we could do to help our affiliates is to also include a ‘How To Guide’ to show our affiliates how to actually brand the report with their own affiliate links. We should not assume that everyone will automatically know what to do.

(Boy can I relate to this!! I have heaps and heaps of rebrandable reports on my hard drive that I can rebrand with my affiliate link. I had no idea what to do until this weeks training! Now I can find all the reports and start giving them away!! )

Another idea with the free report is to take it all to the next level. We could get some graphics made, include some promotional material text such as emails and even a simple sales letter to the report. This could be used if people want to actually sell the report from their own websites.

We should try and include tools that will make it easier and more encouraging for the affiliates to either sell or give our mini ebook away.

Once we have completed our giveaway report John wants us to send it through to him so that he can have a look at it and possibly promote or sell it on ebay as well. (Go John! Although not sure if ‘Learning How To Spray Tan’ is your thing! )

(I have been a bit of a slacky here. I am still in the middle of writing my report!! So much to do, so little time! )

Video 7: Add Free Report To Blog

This particular video was presented by Danial Sumner. For the last few years Daniel has been one of John’s right hand men in charge of ‘Masterclass Support’, he is also the co-owner of PLR Monthly with Dave Nicholson. OK so back to it. In this video Daniel goes through the whole process of showing us how to add our free report to our blog.

The first thing Dan explains to us is what extensions we can use as downloadable files such as ‘pdf’ or ‘zip’ files, however a folder file is not downloadable!

If our report is just a ‘pdf’ file that we want to make available then we can leave the file as is, however if we want to include other files with the ‘pdf’ such as graphics etc, then we will need to place all the files into a folder and ‘zip’ them up.

When we have our files prepared, the next thing we need to do is create a folder that will become our websites downloads folder. We can call this folder ‘Downloads’ or if we are concerned about file stealing we can call it something else. Our downloadable files need to be placed into this folder ready for uploading.

(We really should already know how to do this from uploading our sales website, however going over the process again is not a bad thing! )

Daniel shows us:

1. How to make our files downloadable
2. How to create our downloads folder
3. How to upload our folder to our website space using ‘File Zilla’
4. How to check our files have been uploaded correctly
5. And how to determine the link address of our downloadable file

In the next part of the video Danial shows us how to incorporate the link to our downloadable free report into our auto responder series.

We are shown:

1. How to open our ‘Aweber’ list auto responder sequence
2. How to add the type needed into out ‘Thank You’ for subscribing email
3. And how to paste the report link into the email

Another thing that Daniel suggests is that we should give away reports regularly to our subscribers as a great way to constantly give value. These reports do not necessarily have to be content created by us.

We could find some master resell rights, resell rights or private label rights reports, audios, videos etc related to our niche and make them available for giveaway and download. Plus if we can re-brand the reports/products with affiliate links to bigger products we can earn a commission too!!

(I do plan on setting this up for my subscribers very soon! I have a lot of private label and master resell rights material that I have collected over the last 2 years, however first I need to actually go through the products before I start giving them away. I do not want to give away anything that I don’t think is relevant or of good quality. Another task to do! One day, One task at a time is my motto. I will get there eventually! )

The final suggestion Daniel has for us, is that we could create a specific ‘Subscribers Only’ page like a website page that our subscribers can access and take their downloads from.

(This is a good idea also! Another option is to create a password protected page on our blog!)

Welcome to Week 31 of John Thornhill’s Internet Marketing Training Masterclass Coaching Program.

Wow! It is already the last week of May. The month has just flown by on me and as you may know from reading a couple of my previous posts life has been a little crazy.

My 2 year old is now 3, we experienced a fire and for the last few weeks I have been really focusing on listing some products on ebay. I currently have 6 necklaces on there and hopefully I will be listing some more stuff soon. I have 2 sheds I need to go through full of tubs of stuff!!

On a side note I still need to update my daily tasks posts, I haven’t written one since February!

Now before I get into this weeks training I just wanted to let you know I have some exciting new content I will be introducing to you very soon. On the 4th of May I had my first coaching call with John Thornhill. We spoke for an hour! I had some amazing “Ahaa’ moments and we discussed a number of different things that I want to pursue such as joint venturing with people, using helpdesk’s, email software and different levels of product creation.

The call gave me some clarity of where I am now and where I want to go. I will be making the call available to my subscribers for download very soon. I will keep you posted!

Internet Marketing Masterclass Week 31: The Warrior Forum

In this weeks training we were introduced to one of the most successful internet marketing forums on the internet called ‘The Warrior Forum”.

We were sent our usual welcome letter for the week, our checklist and we had only 1 video to download and watch.

Video 1: The Warrior Forum

In this video John talks about “The Warrior forum” and how being an active member of this forum/group could help with our internet business success.

According to John this forum is one of the largest, most popular and most successful forums on internet marketing and has been operating for quite a few years. Everything to do with internet marketing is discusses in this forum. Not only can it be great as a learning tool, but there are many many high profile marketers that visit and use this forum on a regular basis.

Some of the sections that John recommends for us to visit are ‘The main internet marketing discussion forum’ and ‘The copy writing forum’.

‘Internet marketing reviews and ratings’ is another section that is important for us to look at and become familiar with as well. The latest launches and product reviews can be found here.

Another section for us to visit is ‘The joint venture forum’. This part or the warrior forum is where we can find people that we could possibly joint venture with in the future.

And the final section that john recommends for us to pay close attention to is ‘The special offers section’. This is where we can find a lot of products and offers on special.

The Warrior Forum is one of the leading forums on ‘Internet Marketing’. There are quite a few forums out there, but this one is the big one! Apparently there can be over 3,000 people online in the forum at the same time. That is one popular forum!!!

At the moment I have joined the forum, (You can see my profile here: me!) however I have not been active in there. While I have been studying the last 18 months I have mainly been active in the ‘Masterclass Forum’, ‘John’s Online Training Forum’ and ‘The Thirty day Challenge Forum’.

If I allowed myself, I could get sidetracked and spend days inside the forums. There is so much information and content, plus the amazing people! I wish I had more time!

Week 31 Checklist:

1. Visit The Warrior Forum and join up
2. Browse the sections of the forum, read some of the threads get to know our way around, read the rules and guidelines
3. Search the forum for topics we may be interested in
4. Continue to post to our blogs
5. Continue to visit the masterclass forum and communicate with fellow students
6. Continue to visit fellow students and marketers blogs and post comments where appropriate
7. Catch up on any tasks we have fallen behind on (I have a heap to do here! )

6 Weeks of official training to go! Woo Hoo! Happy Dance Happy Dance! It is not long now.

Firstly I would like to thank everyone for commenting on my last post about the Fire I was involved in. (You can read that post by clicking here: Fire and Loss. )

All of your comments were very caring and thoughtful and I really do thank you for your kind words and compassion. It is amazing how I have not met most of you in person, yet I can feel your genuine sense of caring through your words. My last post was a very humbling experience.

However now it is time to get back into the swing of things and kick these training summaries in the butt so to speak!

Internet Marketing Masterclass Week 30: All Things Twitter

As usual we were sent our welcome letter for the week, our checklist and we only had 1 video to download and watch to learn what tasks we needed to do for the week.

Video 1: All Things Twitter

This week John focused on introducing us to Twitter as a tool to generate traffic to our websites.

I have been using Twitter for just over a year now. So far I have just over 1,000 followers and I think I am following just over 1,000. I do try to tweet at least once a day and at the moment I am really enjoying posting motivational sayings that I have been finding.

At this stage I don’t believe I have used Twitter to its full potential however in saying that I haven’t learned how to just yet. That is why this weeks coaching is so good!

The bonus for this week was that we were given another freebie!! Woo Hoo Happy Dance Love the freebies!

We were given FREE access to Dave Nicholson’s “Tweet Dynamite”. This product normally sells for $97. Rather than John go through everything to do with Twitter, he convinced Dave to give us free access to his course instead.

Truthfully I haven’t gone through the training yet as I have been focusing on improving my websites etc, however I am hoping to do it over the next couple of weeks or so. I will keep you posted!

According to John, Dave will teach us how to set up everything on twitter almost on autopilot, plus teach us how to generate thousands of followers with potential traffic to our websites.

Summary

Like I said earlier I have been a member of Twitter for nearly 12 months, and I know I definitely have not used the service to its full potential. I have heard of people having incredible growth with their business from the use of twitter.

I think the best way to look at twitter is like doing a mass sms message. The only thing I do find confusing is how to follow people. For everyone that links and follows me I will link and follow them, however I don’t believe I follow them as I should.

With trying to create a business online and raising my 3 year old I really do not have the time to read everyone’s tweets! I wouldn’t get anything done!

I do understand the marketing concept of using twitter for business and promotion purposes and I do believe it is an important tool to use for online business development, however from a personal point of view I really do not have the time to tweet back very often or check out every tweet!

I am looking forward to going through Dave’s course as I am sure it will be an awesome one full of information and great training. Every product of Dave’s that I have experienced has always been full of content, information, education and well worth what he charges. He always over delivers!!

Welcome to Week 29 of John Thornhill’s Internet Marketing Training Masterclass Coaching Program.

Yes it has been nearly 2 weeks since I last posted. My little one just turned 3!! I had a party to prepare and lots of people to catch up with. It has been a very busy and fun 2 weeks. However back to reality I thought I had better get my butt into gear and post another training session since a few of you have been asking where is week 29!

So with out further comment lets begin with this weeks tasks…….

Internet Marketing Masterclass Week 29: Gaining Joint Venture Partners

This week of training was all about how to find and gain joint venture partners. We were sent our usual welcome letter for the week, our checklist of tasks plus we had 4 videos to download and watch and learn.

A joint venture partnership is a little bit different to the affiliate/publisher relationship. Working with someone in a joint venture situation can be a win/win for both parties.

One possibility for a joint venture partnership could be a business partnership on a joint product creation. There are a lot of marketers working together nowadays, just look at the products John Thornhill and Dave Nicholson have put together lately such as Multi Profit Websites, Clickbank Adrotator etc etc.

Another form of a joint venture partnership is when both of you agree to promote each other and possibly offer affiliate incentives in the process.

Joint venture partnering is one area I really want to learn more about over time. As I am learning how to create products and market a business on the internet I am getting more and more product ideas. As I am meeting people or spending time with people I am often finding myself thinking about what they are knowledgeable in and how I could create a product from their knowledge.

Instead of just using their information to create my own product I actually want to share the product creation and business with them. For example my father is an accountant and full time musician, there are quite a few products just there if you think about it. I also have friends that are child care workers, beauty therapists, modeling agency owners etc etc etc. I could think of nearly 30 odd products there alone.

I have been thinking about this a lot lately and I think it would be great to team up with people and use their knowledge and my skills to create products where we can both make money and win together!

OK So let’s not get side track anymore let’s get back to training……..

Video 1: Find Products To Promote

In this video John shows us some of the techniques he has used to find and gain joint venture partnerships. One of the biggest things that John believes is that securing joint venture deals and partnerships with other online marketers will be one of the keys to our future online success.

One way to source potential joint venture partners is to search the ‘Clickbank’ or ‘Paydotcom’ marketplace for people that are selling products in the same or similar niche as you.

It is important not to view these products and people as our competition. These people could actually become potential business partners of the future!

We are shown:

1. How to search the ‘Clickbank’ marketplace
2. How to find between 5-10 products related to our niche that look like they would be worth promoting.

Video 2: Contact Webmasters

In this video John recommends that we start to make contact with the webmasters/publishers of the products that we sourced from the previous video task.

Most of the time we should be able to find the website owners contact details at the bottom of their webpage. However if we can’t, then it should be easy to find them by doing a ‘Google’ search for their name or support desk.

The next thing John talks about is how we should go about approaching these people such as politely introducing ourselves, telling them a little bit about us and show them our relevant websites and products.

After we have introduced ourselves we should then ask for a review copy of their product saying something like, ‘Please could I have a review copy of your product as I am thinking of promoting it to my subscribers.’

Most of the time if we say something like that we should receive a review copy without an issue. However in saying that only ask for a review copy if you are genuinely going to promote the product to your subscribers.

Video 3: Write A Product Review

In this video John encourages us to write a review for the products that we may have received after contacting some of the niche product owners. According to John we may find some owners may completely ignore us, some may want more information about us or some may send us a review copy without hesitation and communicate happily.

When writing a product review, it is very important to be completely honest. If we find a product that we don’t feel would suit our subscribers then we shouldn’t promote it!

I completely agree with this statement! I have made a commitment to myself, the integrity of this blog and my subscribers that I will only promote a product that I have had personal involvement with. Either I have bought the product, used it, read it, or been a part of it etc etc.

I do not believe in promoting any product I have not had some form of personal experience with either actually experiencing the product or believe in the product creators from previous personal experience.

For example you may have already seen me promoting quite a few products of John Thornhill’s. This is because I have had personal experience with the majority of them and have grown to know that as a product creator he over delivers in content will all the products that he creates.

All of the products I have promoted on my site is a product that I have either bought, used, read, been to etc etc. I believe that these products are well worth promoting, not just because I earn a commission. (Actually there a few on here I don’t earn anything such as ‘Christopher Howard’s Break Through To Success’ . I just love his seminars! )

When doing a product review, it is important not to over hype a product, it is best to be completely honest and talk about your experiences with the product. If we find something negative about the product then we need to mention it. If we think there are areas or points that we feel could be improved, then we need to mention them as well.

The idea of the product review is to hopefully get some recognition from the actual product owners and possibly future joint ventures. According to John, once the publishers get to know us they might even be able to supply us with a special discount page for our subscribers and vice versa.

The task here is to try and write a good product review once every 2-3 weeks and post them to our blogs.

Video 4: Add Promo Email to Our Auto-Responder

In this video John talks about adding a promotional email of the product we just reviewed to our auto-responder series.

(I still haven’t added many emails to my auto responder, my subscribers will have forgotten me be now! Note to self – Need to write some content for my subscribers! More tasks to do!)

It is recommended that when we add promotional emails to our auto-responder series we should also make sure that we have emails with content as well, at least a 50/50 split.

(I wish more marketers thought like this. I am so sick of the marketers that just sell, sell, sell. They reminds me of sleazy car/insurance salesman! Yuk Yuk! )

Next we are shown how John has his own auto-responder system set up. He sends out emails roughly every week to 2 weeks, that way he is keeping in touch with his subscribers, and not bombarding them.

When writing the email promo we don’t have to repeat the review. All we have to do is introduce the product and send people to our blog review to read more about it. The hope is that once we start making sales of the product, the product owner will take notice of who we are and may possibly promote one of our products at a later date.

All it takes is one marketer with a big list to start promoting us and then slowly other marketers may promote us too! (I am looking forward to that day!! Just got to create the great product first!! )

According to John developing relationships with other marketers and product owners is vital for our online success.

I am in the middle of reading ‘The One Minute Millionaire” again. I think this is my 4th time since I first read the book when I was pregnant with my daughter who has just turned 3 last week! Where are the years going??

I absolutely love this book. I love the story and what it teaches. Every time I read the book I learn something new. And every time I read the more I am motivated even more to keep doing what I am doing.

Week 29 Checklist:

Our checklist tasks for Week 29 were:

1. Search the Clickbank/Paydotcom marketplace for products related to our niche. Try to find 5-10
2. Contact the product owners and ask for review copies
3. Write reviews of the products and post the reviews to our blogs (Remember to promote the product with an affiliate link! )
4. Add an email to our auto-responder series promoting the product review
5. Contact the product owners and inquire if they will do the same for on of our products also
6. Keep posting normally to our blogs
7. Continue to visit other students and marketers blogs and post comments where appropriate
8. Continue to visit blogs and forums with in our niche
9. Continue to write and submit articles (I still need to do this one!! So much to do, so little time! )
10. Visit the masterclass forum and communicate with fellow students

OK so that is week 29 wrapped up. More tasks I still need to do!!

One day at a time, one task at a time! There is only so much time I can do this around my now 3 year old who has decided not to sleep during the day!

Welcome to Week 28 of John Thornhill’s Internet Marketing Training Masterclass Coaching Program.

Week 28!!! Getting there, only 8 training weeks to go! Happy Dance Happy Dance! We are on the final stretch of this course.

There are actually another 6 weeks of training after the 36th week. We were sent 42 all up, however weeks 37-40 are case studies, where John critiques fellow students websites and the the final 2 weeks, 41 and 42 we were asked to write our own case study of our experience with the course and to complete a survey.

I am not too sure if I am going to write up summaries for the extra 6 weeks. I will decide closer to the time. The actual training course itself finished at Week 36!

OK so getting back to Week 28 lets begin with this weeks tasks…….

Internet Marketing Masterclass Week 28: Creating Adds Via Clickbank

This week was all about continuing to drive traffic to our websites by the use of ‘Clickbank Hoplink Adds’. These adverts are great for adding to the ‘Clickbank’ marketplace so potential affiliates can promote our site effectively and the adds can be used on other websites if we haven’t had the money to get any banners made.

This week we were sent our welcome letter for the week, our checklist of tasks and we only had 1 video to download and watch.

Video 1: Create Your Hop Adds

In the first part of the video John gives us a gentle reminder about the importance of posting to our blogs on a regular basis. Writing new posts at least once a week is important for a few reasons.

1. We are adding fresh content which the search engines love.

2. We get used to writing on a regular basis.

3. The more great content we have on our blogs, the longer people will stay reading.

Since installing ‘Google Analytics’ onto my blog I have been able to see what my visitors are doing. Most of my readers will spend about 10 minutes here. I was a bit shocked when I discovered that. 10 minutes is a long time!! (Probably because most of my posts are over 1,000 words and on average 6-7 minutes in reading time according to my ‘Post Teaser’ plugin. )

The positive is that at least I am finding out people are liking what they are reading because they are staying here!! Thank You!!

The other point John emphasizes we should be doing on a regular basis is to continue commenting on other people’s blogs. Doing this does help drive traffic to your website as well as it helps build back links and improves your ‘Alexa’ ranking. I actually try to visit at least 20 different blogs per week as well as I try to find 5 new ones to comment on too.

I have set up most of the blogs I visit into my ‘Google Reader’ account so that I am notified whenever someone makes a new post. This saves me heaps of time.

The final point John emphasizes to keep doing on a regular basis is writing and submitting articles. Yes Yes Yes. I know this is an important one and I still haven’t done it yet!!

I will get there. It IS on my list to do! So much to do and so little time! I need a clone!

The 3 points mentioned above are the main techniques that John uses to drive traffic to his products and websites.

On a side note I am actually looking forward to article writing now. I had a bit of a ‘AaHaa’ moment yesterday. I was reading in the ‘masterclass forum’ about another student who was having trouble with article writing as well. There were a lot of comments in the thread and the one that stuck out was from ‘John Edwards’ (Mr Edmeister!! )

John pointed out that we had already written most of the content when we wrote our ebooks. All we need to do is take some content from a section in our books and re-edit it a little and we have a pre-written article!!

In the words of ‘Homer Simpson’ Dohh!!

It did not occur to me at all that I already have my content for my articles all I need to do is re write it!

Another suggestion from Paula Brett was that we can actually use our blog posts as articles as well!

OK Bimbo here needs some more coffee and chocolate to get her brain working again!

Thank You ‘Mr Edmeister’ for reminding me of the simplicity in some things! Here I was thinking I was going to have to write completely new content. I think that was another reason why I have been avoiding writing articles!

OK, lets get back to creating ‘Hoplink Adds’.

So, What is a hoplink add?

Answer. It is an advert you create about your website that can be distributed around the ‘Clickbank’ marketplace and used by affiliates on other sites. They are similar to the ‘Google Adsense’ concept. (And if you look directly to your right about now, you should see 3 of them in a purple border in my sidebar. These are hoplink adverts!)

The adds cost nothing to create and you are able to create up to 5 of them.

We are shown:

1. How to log into our ‘Clickbank’ account and access the ‘My Adds’ page.
2. How to create a new add
3. How to build the add with our ‘Title’, ‘Keywords’, ‘Description’ etc.
4. And how to save the changes

John recommends that we create the 5 different adverts so our potential affiliates have a choice of what adverts they want to use.

I am pretty sure ‘PayDotCom’ have the same concept, I do remember creating one when I first launched my product with them. ‘PayDotCom’ have a sidebar widget that you can install on your website and this is where the hoplink adverts can be displayed. (Similar to the clickbank widget.)

I had one of the widgets here a couple of months ago, but the code played up so I disabled it. I need to reinstall it again as I made a commission in January from it!

Our checklist tasks for Week 28 were:

1. Create 5 hoplink adverts
2. Keep posting to our blogs
3. Keep visiting other students and marketers blogs and make comments where appropriate
4. Keep visiting blogs in our niche and make comments where appropriate (I still need to do this one! I need to do a little bit more on my spray tanning blog before I do. )
5. Keep submitting articles to as many article directories as possible (Still need to do this one too!!)
6. Visit the forum and communicate with fellow students
