Creating My Business Online Daily Tasks!

Hello All,

Another week has passed since my last post. OMG does the time fly when you are working hard

I have been a very good little Vegemite this week! :D (That is Aussie slang for those of you from overseas. :) ) I have been working very hard at prettying my blog, improving my Alexa Ranking, introducing plugins, watching training videos and much much more…………..

So here is the list of my tasks for the last week in creating my business online….

This Weeks Daily Tasks:

  1. Normal daily tasks of downloading and answering emails. (I still haven’t looked at all of them yet and have noticed there are nearly 1,000 in my in box again. I think I need to do a cull again! )
  2. Having a chat on Facebook and keeping in touch with friends. (I have noticed that I have been focusing so much on my studies and my websites I had forgotten to keep my life balance! It is important to keep in touch with family and friends. The internet is an amazing world and I love sites like facebook because you can post a simple comment on someones page and that way you are still keeping in touch.)
  3. Backed up my data files to my external hard drive. (I know this task may sound trivial, but since having 2 hard drive failures in the last year I have definitely learned the lesson of backing up your data. It is important to do a back up at least once a week. I keep a small notebook beside me when I am at the computer and every time I work on a file I write that file down. That way when it comes to doing the back up I only back up the files I have changed or added to and not everything twice over.)
  4. Visited some fellow students and internet marketers blogs. Got lost for a few hours reading what other people have been up to. (I believe it is important to visit other people’s blogs each week especially the ones you like. It is a great way to see what others are up to as well as learn from them. The internet is an amazing community when you start communicating with like minded people.)
  5. I signed up to “The Warrior Forum”. (I have had this forum recommend to me quite a few times but haven’t actually signed up. One of the training videos I watched this week showed the importance of the forum for learning about internet marketing. The forum is dedicated to fellow internet marketers and people who are trying to make money online.)
  6. Downloaded Septembers products from PLR Monthly. (A great private label rights website I have joined. There products are awesome.)
  7. I added in a few more affiliate product banners to my side bar. (I am starting to understand a little bit more about basic html by doing this. It isn’t as scary as it used to be anymore. :) )
  8. I learned how to edit html and create a table to add a border and create my spray tanning add on the right sidebar. (This exercise took me nearly a day! I used a program called Market Samuri to actually help me create the add, but when I uploaded the code to my website it didn’t have a border and looked quite messy. I then sat there stumped in front of my computer trying to think of how to add a border. :?: I then had an idea. I opened NVU Website Editor (This is a free website editor program) and created a sample website page inserting the add inside a table. I then gave the table a border. Saved the design. Converted the page to code and copied the code to my side bar. I had my fingers crossed and viola it worked! Happy Happy Happy Dance  Mind you it took me a few attempts to get the size and colour right. :) )
  9. Added in 4 new wordpress plugins to my blog. (In my travels to other people’s blogs I have read of recommended. I installed Prettylink, Top Commentators, Global Translator and Custom Smilies. I like smiles and I thought it would be cool if people could use them when commenting. I am still learning about the importance of plugins.)
  10. I have re edited most of my blog posts. (After installing the “All in one SEO” plugin I noticed that when I have finished my post I need to add in a description, keywords that I have used and a second title. Apparently doing this is great for search engine optimization, and since doing this I have noticed my Alexa Ranking improving. :) )
  11. Started to create a website template for an additional area for my blog. (I have been given resell rights to some awesome DVD’s from the seminars I have been to, I will be listing them here soon if anyone wants to buy them I will talk about them closer to the time. I am also going to introduce a freebies and downloads section for my subscribers as well.)
  12. Watched some marketing DVD’s on how to sell the DVD’s I have the resell rights to from the World Internet Summit. (I still have to set up the merchant facility properly and talk to the fulfillment house on what the costs are before I can upload the DVD’s for sale. The DVD’s are of 2 awesome seminars. There are 7 days worth of speakers on the DVD’s There is nearly 40 hours of training on them.)
  13. Watched weeks 29, 30, 31 and half of 32 of John Thornhill’s Marketing Masterclass Internet Marketing Training Program. (I am really enjoying what I am learning from this program. I do highly highly recommend it to anyone that wants to learn the step by step basics to setting up a business online.)

OK so that is my list for last week. Like I have said many times before it is important to keep up the momentum. Sometimes there are days when I don’t get much done and sometimes there are days when I get a few hours done.

To be truthful to you. I average around 2-3 hours a day in working online over a weeks period. That is my hours totaled and then averaged over the 7 days. Some days I don’t even touch the computer. I often find that the best times for me to get online are when my little one sleeps in the afternoons, and when everyone is sleeping at night.

Now that I have filled you in on what I have been doing the last week I had better get back to my studies and catch up on watching some training videos.

I hope all is going well for everyone…

Be Good To You & Believe In Your Dreams!

  1. Hi Jacinta,

#1 I have practically abandoned one of my email addresses, it wasn’t worth my time un-subscribing from them all. I throw out anyone who isn’t giving value in their emails right away on my new account.

#2 Do you have a business account for Facebook? I have an account where I add anyone to do with Internet Marketing and anyone else who friend requests me. And another account for family and friends. Feel free to add me http://www.facebook.com/pauljlear

I’ll also say that I get an OK amount of traffic from Facebook too, about the same amount as I do from Twitter. But I find Facebook traffic to be better quality, i.e, they stay on my site longer.

#3 I like your style, you say way more organized than me. :D I’ll have to do something similar to you.

#4 I also like to visit my fellow students blog’s each week, and other Internet Marketing blogs that I like, like yours for instance. ;) I think our blogs are turning into our own mini social network. I’m starting to make some good friends, and get regular visitors to talk to. :) And likewise, I go to their blogs and talk to them.

#5 I’ve been a member of the Warrior Forum since January, although I didn’t make my first post until recently. I’ll probably see you around there sometime, my username is Paul Lear so should be easy enough to spot me. I don’t go on there too often though, as I end up spending a lot of time reading through posts. I put myself on a countdown timer when visiting forums, it ensures I get more important things done.

#6 I’ve heard of PLR Monthly, probably because I’m on John Thornhill’s list. I already have lifetime membership to a similar PLR club though, I’ve not taken advantage of my membership so far, so that’s definitely on my list of things to do.

I was going to make a comment on each of your things, but I don’t want to make my comment longer than your post…

So I will just say about:

#9 I will try and remember to come back here make a note of those plugins to search for when I have more time, one or two of them sound interesting. I still haven’t got around to installing the smilie plugin yet, I’ll probably do it over the weekend.

Great post, Jacinta. I love hearing what people have been up to, and like I said last time, I really must start doing one of these types of posts on my blog.

    Talk soon,

    Paul.

    Hi Paul,

   Had to do that your comments made me laugh. I love the response to my tasks.

    1. I agree I should abandon email addresses. I think they are starting to be spammed by the big name guru who shall remain nameless who sells our email addresses. You may know who I am talking about! :x

    2. I like the idea of a business facebook account and a family one. I should look into that. I thought facebook only wanted you to have one account. I will find you on there.

    3. Thank you for the comment on my style. I think telling people my little tasks is a great way for them to see there is a lot of little behind the scenes stuff. :D

    4. Definitely agree on visiting other people’s blogs. I have learnt heaps since starting that. ;)

    5. Haven’t posted on Warrior yet, but have heard it is a great learning forum.

    6. I am a member of Resell Rights Fortune and PLR Monthly at this stage. At the moment I have a huge collection of products that I know I will do something with, just not sure what at this stage!

    7. Cool on coming back. I will see you on your blog! :)

    Cheers

  2. Hey Jacinta,

I finally had the chance to migrate over here from your blog comment and I’m glad that I did. It’s neat to see students of John Thornhill’s and what they are up to. And respond to what you said –seeing more women online — it’s excellent!

I found another neat forum to visit called Internet Marketing 4 Newbies, with 55,000 registered users. It might be a good place for us to visit and participate it.

Thanks for this post, it actually intrigued me and is a great idea to post threads like this on our blog.

Keep pressing on Jacinta, your blog is coming out awesome,
    Karen

    Hi Karen,

Thanks for visiting. I have been enjoying reading your blog since I found you through Paul. I agree on sharing our knowledge and I really like seeing more women online. I will check out the forum you have suggested. I have only just joined up with “Warrior”.

At the moment I am concentrating on my course, but I know when I finish it will be great to communicate with others. Speaking of which better get back to the studies! :D

See you on your blog! :P

    Jacinta :)

  3. Hi again,

Glad you enjoyed reading my comment. I get carried away sometimes!

Just thought I’d let you know I’ve replied to your question on my blog.

    Paul.

Thanks for popping past and letting me know you have answered my Question. I will pop past shortly. It is a bit like popping in for Coffee but online!

  4. Hi Jacinta,

As usual, I’m out of breath from reading your posts. I actually did a few things similar to you – I fixed up my blog a little (now I’m going to take your advice and go back over my posts) and although I joined Warrior Forum almost I year ago, I went in yesterday and gave some advice, comments, etc.

    Thanks again for sharing!

    Hi Gwen,

Good to see you are checking up on me and holding me to task!
You should definitely re go over your posts and tag them as well as install the “All In One SEO Plugin”.

Since I have installed mine and re edited all of my posts my Alexa ranking has dropped heaps. It is time consuming but worth it. The lower the Alexa ranking the more chance of natural traffic.

Hope all is going well! :D

  5. Awesome post! I’ve been trying to come up with a good internet business idea for a while. Instead, I have come up with a great non-internet business idea, which kind of sucks in a way because this idea requires a lot of money, as opposed to a full internet-based business that might not require that much to get it started. I’m not giving up though. I recently started a blog where I plan to document my steps for starting my company. I figured it would keep me motivated and force me to keep at it. I also hope it will motivate the readers to keep trying to accomplish their goals. By the way, I love your site. I’ll be adding it to my list of interesting blogs.

  6. Hi Jacinta,

Thanks for the comments, I have seen you over at Pauls site and I have been over here a few times.

Not commented before on this post as I think Paul already said most things.

Although I am not a student of anyone I have kind of been following most of Alex Jeffreys and also Dean Hollands students and have had good come back from them in terms of visits back to my site from comments I have made.

Thanks again for the visit, your doing a lot better with your Alexa rank as well now.

    Cheers,

    James
  I love the smilies

    Hi James,

Thank you for popping by. I am still at the 600,000 mark on the Alexa side of things but getting there slowly  .

I don’t think it matters whether you are student of anyone’s or not. We are all learning together and from each other some of us have different mentors. I am a student of John Thornhill’s and Ed Dale’s. I don’t know how I ended up on Paul’s site he came and said hello on my site from me visiting someone else so I started visiting his site and went from there.

I feel like a little spider cruising around the web of blogs meeting people  (I watched Charlotte’s Web last night on TV!)

I like the smilies too! :) I did a post on them back in July I was playing with trying to do more than the usual smile and then I found the plugin which helps even more! :P I think they add character and personality to what we are trying to say. ;)

Good luck with everything and see you on your blog!

    Hi Satrap,

Thank you for popping by!

I like doing the daily tasks posts, it is a way for me to stay accountable for what I am trying to do as well as show that learning how to create websites, products and develop a business online takes time and a lot of tedious tasks.

I don’t think newbies realise that setting up a potential business online is no different to setting up a business offline.

I am looking forward to visiting Warrior Forum more. At the moment I have been a little side tracked, however I do realise the potential of the forum and have heard only good things about it. :)

See you on your blog soon! :P
