I Didn’t Learn My Lesson!

Hello All,

It has been over a week since my last post. Why you ask? Well let me tell you…..

I didn’t learn my lesson!!!!

Last Thursday after spending most of the day working and studying hard, I turned the computer back on very late at night to do a quick catch up and guess what………..The computer had crashed AGAIN!!!

I sat in shock and looked at the screen saying “boot hard disk failed” and thought “That can’t be right! I just had a new one put in 6 months ago!!!”

Well yes it was right! And guess what??? Do you think I had a recent back up??

NO!! I hadn’t backed up since I had shifted house 4 months ago!!

For the last four months I have been working like a slave at my computer, downloading and downloading, buying product after product, email after email, photo after photo. You would have thought I would have backed Up right? Considering the amount of hours!

Well silly me, (I am so beating myself up at the moment I could kick myself 10 times over) thought I would at least get 12 months out of the hard drive before problems would occur.

Well like a good little person I went down to the computer shop that put my other hard drive in to be told the hard drive is not detecting at all and they couldn’t access anything!!!

NO DATA!!!!

So my heart hit my throat and not only have I lost the hours and hours of work as well as products, graphics etc etc, but the real killer is losing my photo’s of my bubba!! My little one is only 2 and I have lost 4 months of memories I can’t replace.

I feel frustrated and annoyed at myself for being complacent. I don’t really have any excuses except being complacent and not focused on the task at hand. The last 4 months I have shifted house, had 2 interstate trips, and had sick family all while trying to study and learn how to create a business online. I just didn’t think that anything like this would happen again.

But….as you now know, it has! And there is nothing I can do about it. I have contacted some local Data Recovery Specialists, but it looks like my chances are going to be slim, and the cost is unbelievable!!! I am definitely in the wrong industry!

So……..as you can see. I am not a very happy camper. And now I have really learned a very harsh lesson in the world of computers and hard drives.

YOU MUST BACK UP YOUR WORK NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!!!!!

So Until Next Time…………………..

Back Up Your Hard Drive

  1. Hi Jacinta, ouch, I can only imagen the distress that caused. It’s a nightmare that we all need to avoid.

Maybe you could write a post on how to back up our systems as I know i should do it but in all honesty “i don’t know how to” but would like to know so that i can do my system and avoid the hassle that it brings, not to mention the expense.

Am i likely to have anything that you lost? I’ve got 1,000′s of ebooks and if you know which ones you need i’ll have a sort out for you.

Let me know my friend, if i can help out i will.

    Respect & Regards, Barry

  2. Hi Barry,

Thank you for the suggestion. I have just about set up a complete back up system. will do on the post idea about it. I am just in the middle of testing some software that helps with the process.

Thank you for the offer on the ebooks. I have a list of what I have lost, I will pm you in the forum. The biggest thing I am poopy about is people not honouring your purchase and re-issuing DL links. But all in all I am only out of pocket about $200 in product so not bad considering!!

    Speak soon!

    Jacinta

  3. Jacinta,
That’s a nightmare and I congratulate you for taking it as well as you did. It does show your tenacity and determination though.
Lesson learned for all of us!
    Thanks for your honest revelation.
