Introducing Internet Marketer Alex Sysoef – WordPress Blogging Expert!
Hello All,
This is a very quick post to introduce you to another Internet Marketer I have been following called Alex Sysoef.
Alex is an expert on WordPress and his blog has information on anything and everything to do with wordpress and the world of blogging.
Lately I have been really interested in my blogs security. I have been noticing I am starting to get spammed a bit now that my ranking has improved and more traffic is visiting. Don’t get me wrong I love the visitors and love getting the comments, but not from people leaving keywords in the name field (such as ‘seo expert’ etc) and making silly simple one lines of “Good Post” and think I will actually give them some link love and print their comment!
The other thing I have been noticing in my travels is pop ups connecting to some sites linking to ‘xxx’ and gambling sites. I have my browser set to notify me of banned pop ups. I know that most of us don’t have pop ups associated with our sites so I found this interesting and tried to research more!
Apparently the pop ups have something to do with blog security and being hacked! This can apparently occur with out us even knowing!
I have been reading some really good information from Alex’s website so I thought I would share it with you all. (To visit Alex’s website click here. Alex Sysoef.)
If any of you know more about blog security I would really love to hear from you!
So until next time……..
Enjoy Your Learning!

Jacinta, I always learn something or someone new when I visit your blog.
One thing that I haven’t done on my blog, but I usually will do is block access to the admin page. You know how everyone knows that you login to your WordPress blog at /wp-admin Well, I haven’t looked into WordPress to see if this same login is used if you allow visitors to register on your blog or what else it might affect – but normally if I’m using a popular script that has /admin or /administrator as the login page, and everyone (including hackers) knows it, is use htaccess to protect the page/directory. That will require a login to access /wp-admin so hackers or whomever can’t take advantage of security holes through the admin page (e.g. someone forgetting to change their default passwords when WordPress is installed).
I’ll catch up with you soon!

Hi Jacinta, your article is right on time! I’ve been focusing on my blog’s SEO and making some necessary changes. Now, after following your link to Alex’s blog I’m ready to beef up security to.
BTW, I just came across this unique blog and thought you and your readers might find it a breath of fresh air.

Hi Jacinta,
I agree about the concerns with site security. Will share any info I get. I also get hacked off with the one liners left in my comments, although the spam comments seem to come in bursts – one week lots, next week none. Strange. Great link, thanks.
Enjoy the journey.

Blimey Jacinta! That was a very detailed post by Alex,
but it made me aware of the security issue. Masterclass blogs have used Fantastico for installation which complicates things. I am going to install the widgets ‘wp-spamfree’, ‘limit login attempts’ and ‘wordpress file monitor’ that should help I think.
John
PS. I like your smileys. How do you install them?

Hi satrap,
Thank you for visiting my blog!
Yes blogging can be hardwork, however I do think it is a lot of fun. We just have to treat it like any business.
Just had a look at your site. It looks great.
See you back here soon!
Jacinta
There are lots of resources to sort out. Ads, banners, button ads and sample recommendations to give out because the marketer knows that this is one way of ensuring more sales!
