John Thornhill’s Internet Marketing Master Class Coaching Program Week 17!

jtmaster

Hello All,

Welcome to Week 17 of John Thornhill’s Internet Marketing Training Masterclass Coaching Program.

Week 17! Wow! We are slowly getting there just another 25 or so to go!

I hope everyone is getting ready for the festive season! It is really starting to look a lot like Christmas. Decorations every where, presents being wrapped and the shopping malls in overload!

I am being a very creative little monkey this Christmas and have decided to do home made so the kitchen is a mess. but I am having fun! :D

I won’t ramble on any more in this post so lets begin with this weeks training tasks……. :P

Internet Marketing Masterclass Week 17: Sales Page Creation Part 1

This week we are introduced to creating a sales page for our product. These types of websites can often be called mini sites as they only have a couple of pages by the time they are completed.

To create our sales page we need a html editor program and are recommended to use a fairly cheap program called “Page Breeze” or there is a free tool online called “NVU”. There are more expensive products out there such as “Dream Weaver”, “Expression Web”, “Xsitepro” etc however as this is our first time that most of us are creating a website John does not recommend spending a lot of money on software that we may find hard to understand at this stage. (So far I have used NVU)

This week we were sent our welcome letter for the week, our checklist and we had 7 videos to download and watch to learn what tasks we needed to do for the week.

Video 1: Arrange Our Sales Page Files

The first thing John wants us to do this week is to arrange our sales page files with in our masterclass coaching folder so that we are ready to create our Sales Page, Affiliates Page and Thank You Page.

Therefore the first thing we need to do is to create the 3 folders called ‘Sales Page’, ‘Affiliates Page’ and ‘Thank You Page’. Next we need to access the graphics folder file we should have received from Planet Divinity with our sales page template inside. And finally we need to create 3 copies of those files and place a copy into each of the above folders.

We are shown:

  1. How to create a ‘Sales Page’, ‘Affiliates Page’, and ‘Thank you Page’ folder inside our masterclass coaching product folder
  2. How to access our sales page template files we received from Planet Divinity
  3. How to make 3 copies of the graphic file and place a copy of each set of files into each of the 3 folders we created

Video 2: Download Page Breeze (This Is Optional)

In this video John explains to us that we need to have access to some html editing software in order to create our sales page. There are many different editing software programs out there such as ‘Dream Weaver’, ‘Expression Web’, Front Page (although this one is discontinued) however most of these programs can be really complicated for a complete newbie. Instead there are some simple basic ‘What you See Is What You Get” (WYSIWYG) style programs such as ‘Kompozer’ and ‘NVU’ (These are free!) and ‘Page Breeze’ (This program is only @$30).

The software John is going to demonstrate sales page creation with is ‘Page Breeze’. (I used NVU :D )

We are shown:

  1. The Page Breeze website
  2. And how to download the free 30 day trial version

Video 3: Opening Our Html Files

In this video John shows us:

  1. How to launch the Page Breeze software program
  2. How to edit some of the default settings
  3. And how to find and open out html sale page template called ‘index.html’ with in the Page Breeze program

Video 4: Basic Html Skills We Need

In this video John teaches us the basics of using the html editor software. The editor tool bar is very similar to using ‘Microsoft Word’ or “Open Office Writer’. It is very much a what you see is what you get panel.

We are shown the basics of:

  1. Adjusting the type/font size and colour
  2. Centering and Aligning etc
  3. Inserting an image
  4. Inserting a hyperlink

Video 5: Step 1 – Our Sales Page Headline

The headline is one of the most important features of a sales page. The headline is what captures the attention of the visitor where they will either decide to stay reading the page or move on.

John suggests our headline to be centred, red and a simple type such as ‘Tahoma’. We should keep our headline to the point and should be 3-4 lines long at the most.

The best way to help come up with a good headline is to look at other sales pages and notice what stands out to us. What grabs our attention. What words encourage us to read further.

We can also refer to Section 11 – Template step 1 of Randy Smith’s ‘Sales Letter ABC’. This is the section that discusses headlines.

Video 6: Step 2 – Outline Our Niche’s Problem

In this video John explains that after the headline and initial introduction, it is important to introduce the problem our product is going to solve.

The most common and effective sales pages on the internet are the letter style and this the style of sales page we are creating.

Outlining the initial problem is Section 12 – Template step 2 of Randy’s sales letter ebook. We are again encouraged to look at ‘Sales Letter ABC’ and the ‘Copy Template’ that comes with the ebook for reference and help as to what to say in this section of our sales letter.

Video 7: Step 3 – Introducing Our Product

Step 3 in creating our sales page is introducing our product that will solve the problem mentioned in step 2. We should also include a graphic image of our product here as well and make sure the alignment is centred similar to the main title.

Again we are encouraged to look at other sales pages to see how other products are introduced and to reference ‘Sales Letter ABC’ and the ‘Copy Template’.

Week 17 Checklist:

Our checklist tasks for week 17 were:

  1. Arrange our files and folders
  2. Download Page Breeze or organise equivalent html editing software
  3. Find other sales letter examples to read and learn from
  4. Refer to Randy Smith’s ‘Sales Letter ABC’ ebook and ‘Copy Template for guidance
  5. Start our sales page by creating our headline
  6. Introduce the problem our product solves on our sales page
  7. Introduce our product and insert a graphic image on our sales page
  8. Continue visiting the masterclass forum
  9. Continue visiting fellow marketer’s blogs and making comments where appropriate
  10. Continue posting to our own blogs

Over all this week we started our first draft to our sales letter. Like our product (ebook) we will make a first draft, read it, change it, and read it again until we are satisfied with a final draft.

OK so that is week 17 wrapped up.

So until next time……..

Enjoy Your Learning!

P.P.S John Thornhill’s Internet Marketing Masterclass Coaching may be closed at the moment. He has just started the new 2010 program and he only ever takes a limited amount of students at a time so as to dedicate himself to our learning, basically it is a first in first served situation.

Update 10/4/2010: John has just released a one month $4.95 trial to Masterclass meaning you can sign up for $4.95 and trial the training. As far as I know he is limiting these places. If you see a sold out sign, then do sign up to be notified when there are new places available again.

This training program was the best decision I ever made. I would not be doing what I am today if it wasn’t for John. I can not recommend this program enough! :D

  1. Hi Jacinta,

    Hi Paul,

Thank you for popping by!

Good to see you in the new JT forum! :P

I am hoping the blog will be full of good content and a good training tool for people soon. I have been focusing hard on doing the training posts I haven’t been doing much in the blog commenting run. I have noticed my ranking decreasing because of it. Interesting!

Thank you for the Xmas wishes. See you on your blog soon! :P

    Jacinta :D

  2. Hello again Jacinta. Still hard at work I see……What do you use to check your blog ranking :?:

Another useful summary of the Masterclass. I tried to learn Dreamweaver for 18 months, but never really got to grips with it. I’m a complete convert to Xsitepro. It only took me 5 days to learn enough for good websites. It’s a WYSIWYG, easy to use programme.

    Keep up the good work.

    Hi John,

I like that fact that you visit regularly. It is giving me good feedback! :)

I do want to look at the software you are using. I have seen a few sites now that have been using it and they look great.

Re my ranking I use to plugins for Firefox. “SEO for Firefox” and “Search Status”. “Search status” gives me page and alexa ranking to sites I visit and my own site ranking information and “SEO for firefox” gives me information about other websites when I do Google searches.

They are really cool research tools.

Hope to see you back here soon!
