It has been nearly another week since my last post. I have been extremely busy this last week and actually had a life outside of being a mummy learning how to create a business online!

On a personal side I was fortunate enough to get tickets to see the Australian band ‘ACDC’ in concert and let me tell you I had an absolute blast!! I felt like a teenager again, jumping up and down screaming and singing and rocking! It was awesome and it reminded me of how we do need to enjoy ourselves at times and get out from under the computer and out of the house!

The concert was awesome and what’s more is that these guys are in their 60′s and they had more energy than me!!

However now that I am back to reality and back to being a mummy, I had better welcome you to Week 24 of John Thornhill’s Internet Marketing Training Masterclass Coaching Program.

So with out further comment lets begin with this Week 24′s tasks…….

Internet Marketing Masterclass Week 24:

Create Affiliates Page

This week was all about creating our affiliates page. According to John a lot of people make the mistake of not supplying their affiliates with a wide variety of tools for them to promote our products with.

Most affiliates like products that have tools supplied for them that they can then use to promote the product with such as images, banners, body copy, example articles, emails, blog posts, signatures et etc. Including these items for our affiliates makes it easier for them to promote our products effectively.

This week we were sent 6 videos to download and watch as well as our usual list of tasks to do. John also sent us an affiliate web-page template that we could use to help us create our affiliate page with.

Video 1: Register For 2nd Account On Clickbank

John taught us back in Week 3 to register a ‘Clickbank‘ account for promoting affiliates products. This time around John recommends that we create a second account. It is recommended that we keep our affiliate and our sales accounts separate so we are able to track our statistics better and not get confused.

At this stage I have an affiliate account with ‘Clickbank’, however my product “Spray Tanning Success“ is listed with ‘PayDotCom‘.  I will explain the reason I chose to use ‘PayDotCom’ over ‘Clickbank’ at a later stage.

Video 2: Edit Affiliate Page Template

Like I mentioned at the beginning of this weeks write up, having an effective affiliates page is giving your affiliates a variety of tools to be able to promote your product with.

To help us in delivering our affiliate page, John gave us access to a template we can adapt our affiliate tools to.

In this video John shows us where to access the template and how to set it up ready to be edited.

Video 3: Add Affiliate Material

In this video John shows us how to add our affiliate material to our affiliate template. There are ‘email titles’, ‘email copy’, ‘product reviews’, ‘blog posts’, ‘forum signatures’, ‘email signatures’ and areas to place our product graphics with their URL address’s.

We are also shown an example of one of John’s affiliate pages for his product ‘Resale Rights Roadmap’.

We are shown:

1. How to set up the affiliate page template
2. How to edit the template
3. How to add in our affiliate information
4. And how to save any changes

John recommends to imagine that we are promoting our own product and what we would like to use. The other thing that John recommends is to try and write most of the material we want to use in ‘notepad’ so it is easy to copy and paste over. That way if we want to make any edits we can proof read everything before actually inserting the information into the template.

Video 4: Add Affiliate List To Aweber

In this video John encourages us to create a new Aweber list for our affiliates. This is so that when someone signs up to the affiliate list you can also send them affiliate tips and tricks as well as other possible affiliate offers with launching new products.

Placing an Optin form on an affiliates page is something a lot of people do not do.

We are shown:

1. How to create a new list in Aweber (We should know this by now! )
2. And how to edit our confirmed Optin email and follow up email for our new list

Video 5: Add Aweber Code To Affiliates Page

In this video John shows us again how to create a webform for our affiliate list and copy the code into our affiliate page template, like we did when we added in the sign up code when we were creating our sales page.

We are shown:

1. How to view the template in code view
2. How to copy the Aweber affiliate list code into place
3. And how to save the details and fix any problems if they arise using ‘notepad’ or ‘text document’

Video 6: Add Affiliates Page To Main Template

In this video John shows us how to add our affiliates page template into our main product website template.

We are shown:

1. How to open our affiliate page folder we created weeks ago and open the index page
2. How to delete the default images in the page until all that is left is “Your Title Here”
3. Next how to open our affiliate page template that has our affiliate material in it.
4. And how to copy everything on the template and then paste the code into place.

If there is a problem copy and pasting into our website builder (I am using Kompozer ) John recommends we copy and paste everything using either ‘notepad’ or ‘text document’ and then re open our templates in our website builder editor.

Summary

When I created my affiliate page I did use the template that John provided for us and found it very easy to use, the hardest part was actually writing all the affiliate material. The fact that John also showed us one of his affiliate pages was also a really good help.

However the one thing I do suggest if you are going to create an affiliate page is to actually create a squeeze page for your potential affiliates to sign up first before they are directed to the page with your affiliate tools. The reason for this is to avoid spammers using your email copy or any of your copy to potentially spam people!

When I created my affiliates page I did not think that some one would actually use my stuff to spam people until I received an email from “Terry” from ‘spraytanningsuccess@yahoo.com’ with my email copy. I do not have a clue who Terry is and nor was I signed up to his list! Silly me clicked on the dead link within the email thinking it was going to go to my sales page and instead I was sent to a website that had harvested all of my email address’s from my email editor ‘outlook’ from ‘spyware’ from the website that I visited and I have been spammed relentlessly ever since!!!

I highly highly recommend that you make a squeeze page that potential affiliates must sign up first before they can get to access to your affiliate tools. Week 24′s Checklist:

Our checklist tasks for week 24 were:

1. Register for a second Clickbank account specifically for our product
2. Access the example affiliate template that John provided us
3. Edit the template and add in our own affiliate material
4. Create a affiliate list with Aweber
5. Add the affiliate Aweber code into our template
6. Transfer our affiliate template to our main website template
7. Visit the masterclass forum and communicate with fellow students
8. Continue visiting fellow student and marketers blogs and make comments where appropriate
9. Continue posting to our own blogs

OK so that is week 24 wrapped up.
