Hello All,
Welcome to Week 25B of John Thornhill’s Internet Marketing Training Masterclass Coaching Program.
Another week gone already! Where are the days going!
So much to learn, so much to do and so little time, I think I need to clone myself!
On a side line note I am looking forward to this weekend as I am off to another seminar on internet marketing and creating cash flow for life. Going to the seminars is really inspiring for me. I learn a heap every time I go to one plus they motivate me to continue with what I am doing.
As soon as I finish writing up my training series about the ‘John Thornhill Masterclass’ I will be writing about all the seminars I have been to and the seminar speakers I have seen. I am looking forward to writing that for you as well as it will be refreshing the information for me.
So enough waffling I had better move on with this weeks training post. ![]()
Internet Marketing Masterclass Week 25: Clickbank Approval
This weeks post is in continuation from my last post Week 25 A. I decided to split the week up into 2 posts due to having 14 videos to summarize!
So without further comment, here are the summaries for the rest of the videos and tasks for Week 25.
Video 7: Link Pay Button To Clickbank
Continuing on in preparing our product for ‘Clickbank’. In this video we were taught how to link our ‘Buy Button’ on our sales page to our ‘Clickbank’ account.
We are shown:
- How to open our sales page in ‘Page Breeze’
- How to highlight the image and link tab
- How to add the URL we need http://1.YOURID.pay.clickbank.net/ (changing YOURID to our ID)
- And how to save our settings
Video 8: Add Contact Details To Clickbank
The next thing we need to add on to our ‘Sales Page’ and ‘Thank You’ page is a contact email address.
It is not recommended to just write in your email as spammers have software that can harvest it and your email in-box will end up full of spam! (I hate spammers!! Everyday I swear I get a good hundred off emails offering me ‘Viagra’, ‘How to please my partner’, ‘The latest Pharmaceutical drug’, ‘How to make money online’ etc etc etc JUNK! from having my email harvested and sold off! It is $%^& annoying!) Just thought I would have a rant too!
In this video John shows us:
- How to take a photo of the screen where we have typed our email. (Windows Vista can take screen pictures, I use ‘Alt/Print Screen’ on my keyboard and then paste the image into ‘Microsoft Publisher’ and save the image as a ‘jpg’. You can also use ‘Open Office Draw’ as well.)
- How to save the image into our sales page images folder
- How to copy the image in place on our product ‘Sales Page’ and ‘Thank You’ page.
- And how to save out settings
Video 9: Add Link To Affiliate Page
In this video John shows us how to place a hyperlink on our ‘Sales Page’ to connect to our ‘Affiliates Page’. This task is quite simple, it is just a matter of writing the word ‘Affiliate’ where ever we want to place the link. Most people will have the link at the bottom of their page.
We then highlight the text and then create the hyperlink to the ‘Affiliates’ page using the hyperlink tab and filling in the details. The same way we added a hyperlink into our ebooks or in our posts.
Video 10: Upload Files And Folders
Next we need to upload all of our files and folders to our product domain.
We are shown:
- How to connect to our main domain with ‘File Zilla’
- How to find our products domain name in the ‘Public html’ folder
- How to prepare each of our folders ready for uploading
- How to upload our ‘Sages Page’ correctly
- How to upload the ‘Affiliate’ and ‘Download/Thank You’ folders
- And how to check they have been uploaded correctly
Video 11: Test Everything
In this video John shows us how to test everything and make sure the pages and files have uploaded correctly.
The easiest way to check the pages is to write the URL addresses to the ‘sales Page’, ‘Affiliates Page’ and ‘Thank You’ page in the browser address bar. If everything uploaded correctly the pages should display.
Now we should test everything, the links, how the page looks, read the page in case there are spelling mistakes etc etc. It is also recommended to test if the products download correctly as well.
(You should also test everything after you make any changes to your pages in the future as well. So many times I have made changes to my pages, forgotten to test and then received emails saying clients had problems signing up into the ‘Optin form’ or downloading the products. Always test every time you change anything!
)
Once everything works properly it is time for the test order!
Video 12: Make A Test Order
In this video John shows us how to do a test buy of our product. When we go to buy the product we should see a message saying “Warning this is only a test order and will not result in a completed transaction”
Once ‘Clickbank’ has approved your product and you have paid the publisher fee, then your product is live and can take real sales.
The next thing we need to do is complete the test order process and fill in the details, check the confirmation page and download page etc etc. This is the same process a real client will go through.

- How to go through the test buying process step by step
Video 13: Apply For Clickbank Approval
Once the test order is successful and the pages and links are working fine, it is time to apply for ‘Clickbank’ approval. According to John, you may not get approval the first time you apply. ‘Clickbank’ may want some text or images changed.
If this occurs John recommends making the changes requested and then reapplying.
We are shown:
- How to access our product in our account that we created in Week 25A.
- How to click for approval request
- How to fill in all the details required
- And how to submit for approval
Apparently ‘Clickbank’ will take 2-4 days to get back to you. Once you are approved you then have to pay the $49.95 publisher fee. (This is required per product you sell on ‘Clickbank.’ )
PayDotCom does not have an approval process. All I had to do was make sure I had every thing required on my pages, link up my ‘Buy Button’ and fill in the required details and my product was online. The first publishing product per account is free. If you want to list a 2nd product on the same account you then have to pay a fee of @$29.
When I listed my product I had my first sale within 24 hours. It was pretty exciting!
Once you have paid the fee and your product is approved with ‘Clickbank’ you can start making money. The next problem is driving traffic to your website! ![]()
Video 14: How To Add/Remove Optin
This video is an additional one that shows us how to change our ‘Sales Page’ with an ‘Optin’ to a ‘Sales Page’ with out one.
John explains that we may have an affiliate approach us with a massive list, however will only promote us if we remove the ‘Optin’ form from our ‘Sales Page’. This is the reason why we created the two different sales pages in Week 23.
We are shown:
- How to open ‘File Zilla’ to access our website page online
- How to upload the 2nd ‘index’ page with the optin graphics or with out
- How to rename the index page to swap them over
- And how to change them back and save our details. (Now we know how to make changes online in real time!)
Week 25B Checklist:
Our checklist tasks for Week 25A were:
- Continue on with the tasks from Week 25A
- Link our ‘Pay Button’ on our ‘Sales Page’ to our ‘Clickbank’ account
- Add our contact details to our ‘Thank You’ And Sales Page’ for ‘Clickbank’
- Create a link on our ‘Sales Page’ to our ‘Affiliates’ page
- Upload all our files and folders to our product domain
- Test everything shows online and make a test order
- Apply for ‘Clickbank’ approval
- Visit the forum and continue communicating with fellow students
- continue posting to our blogs
- Visit fellow student and marketers blogs and make comments where appropriate

Hi John,
No worries on the spam reminder. I hate the buggers. It is so annoying and what is more illegal yet the buggers still do it.
I am looking forward to writing up about the seminar speakers as well. I have seen a good 30 different speakers over the last couple of years and I am off to another seminar this week end.
I love going to them when I can. I am lucky at the moment as hubby and mother inlaw help to babysit bubba for me which is really supportive. Every time I go I learn something new.
I am pretty sure the internet speakers posts will pretty much take up the rest of the year as each speaker talked for nearly 2 hours each on average and my intention is to actually write up my notes that I took. A bit like these summaries. The only difference is I will keep the posts a little shorter and a bit more of a teaser so each speaker may take up two posts.
Plus I am looking forward to going over the notes and re learning everything again!

I am looking forward to completing the series! I have just pre-written up to Week 28 now. Only 8 more to go after that! As soon as I have finished with them I am going to collate them into a freebie that I can giveaway for here and giveaway events etc. I think it will be an interesting read by the time it is finished.
I will let all of Masterclass know and you can all sign up to my list.
Re the menu at the top. Gwen has one, that is where I got the idea from. It is a plugin called ‘Menubar’ There are about 4 colours to choose from and 3 different templates. I think Gwen knew how to edit hers, because hers looks different.

Just had an idea about the seminars Jacinta.
I wonder if the organisers would allow you to video a small portion, or use an extract from their videos? You could then insert the video clip into your summary……What do you think

Hi John,
I like the idea, but they won’t allow any recordings what so ever! I think that is because they like to sell the DVD’s to the seminars down the track.
I actually have access to 2 seminar series of DVD’s with resell rights. “The World Internet Summit” in 2008″ and “Dream Life”. I need to organise myself to get them listed on here for sale, but I need to watch them first just to make sure the content is still relevant.
Most seminar organisers are pretty strict on recordings so I don’t think I will be able to. My notes are pretty good. I take a heap of them.
I just found out there is another one day seminar at the end of April I want to go to too!!
I am starting to get the feeling the flow of this blog is going to head into different seminar speakers and online training info.
It is funny how things slowly work them selves out. When I first started this blog I had no idea how it was going to flow or what I was going to write about. If you look back at my posts Oct 08 – Oct 09 they are all over the place. Since I started the ‘Daily Tasks’ series in July/Aug 09 and the ‘Masterclass’ series in Oct 09 the blog has metamorphosed itself!
I like the idea of doing different series, they keep me focused. Not sure what I am going to do after the seminar speaker series, I might actually start doing a little teaching by then.
Speaking of which I had better get some sleep!

I’m brand new, just 8 weeks into John’s Masterclass. I love your reminder to go to seminars! I’ve been to a few self-improvement and spiritual self-growth ones in the past, but will now look for more in my neck of the woods (Indianapolis, Indiana, US) to help in my journey.
My intuition has my blog leaning toward healing and inner peace, so thank you for all your hard work in this series, I feel inspired!

You should definitely go to the seminars. I just got back from the one I went to on the weekend and it has motivated me even more to keep doing what I am doing.
Seminars are a great way to learn, a great way to meet new like minded people and a great way to keep yourself motivated. I would just do a ‘Google’ search. Get yourself on to a few mailing lists with some event organisers and they will notify you when the seminars come up.
Regarding your niche, self help and personal development is one of the high money making niches on the internet. So if you create a really great product in that niche and get some really good affiliates you will do well. I would recommend trying to add more to your product than just an ebook so you are a little different. If you have friends that are healers and experts in that industry get them interviewed and include the interviews with your product.
Cool on your friend in Melbourne. What are you selling on ebay?

That’s such good advice and I will follow-up on it regarding the seminars.
I’m so happy with what you said about self help and development! I had no idea! That’s terrific! And come to think of it, I do know a couple of people I could interview. You’ve got the wheels in my head turning now!
On eBay I sell mostly new and used dinnerware pieces, housewares, and the occasional collectible.

Good luck with the seminar hunting. I am sure once you find some event people you will find there are quite a few seminars that will be close to you.
Regarding your niche, sounds like you have the choice of 2! Ebay and what you sell and how to source your stock as well as the self help industry.
If you are going to choose ebay, I know that you will have a good chance of John promoting your book as his niche is ebay. Make sure the product is to do with dinnerware, not just general ebay so it is more niche orientated.
Re self help I would definitely get some people interviewed, plus get the interviews transcribed as well. Your product will have a much more perceived value!
