John Thornhill’s Internet Marketing Master Class Coaching Program Week 28!
Hello All,
Welcome to Week 28 of John Thornhill’s Internet Marketing Training Masterclass Coaching Program.
Week 28!!! Getting there, only 8 training weeks to go! Happy Dance Happy Dance! We are on the final stretch of this course.
There are actually another 6 weeks of training after the 36th week. We were sent 42 all up, however weeks 37-40 are case studies, where John critiques fellow students websites and the the final 2 weeks, 41 and 42 we were asked to write our own case study of our experience with the course and to complete a survey.
(You can read my case study that I wrote here: My Case Study)
I am not too sure if I am going to write up summaries for the extra 6 weeks. I will decide closer to the time. The actual training course itself finished at Week 36!
OK so getting back to Week 28 lets begin with this weeks tasks…….
Internet Marketing Masterclass Week 28: Creating Adds Via Clickbank
This week was all about continuing to drive traffic to our websites by the use of ‘Clickbank Hoplink Adds’. These adverts are great for adding to the ‘Clickbank’ marketplace so potential affiliates can promote our site effectively and the adds can be used on other websites if we haven’t had the money to get any banners made.
This week we were sent our welcome letter for the week, our checklist of tasks and we only had 1 video to download and watch.
Video 1: Create Your Hop Adds
In the first part of the video John gives us a gentle reminder about the importance of posting to our blogs on a regular basis. Writing new posts at least once a week is important for a few reasons.
1. We are adding fresh content which the search engines love.
2. We get used to writing on a regular basis.
3. The more great content we have on our blogs, the longer people will stay reading.
Since installing ‘Google Analytics’ onto my blog I have been able to see what my visitors are doing. Most of my readers will spend about 10 minutes here. I was a bit shocked when I discovered that. 10 minutes is a long time!! (Probably because most of my posts are over 1,000 words and on average 6-7 minutes in reading time according to my ‘Post Teaser’ plugin.
)
The positive is that at least I am finding out people are liking what they are reading because they are staying here!! Thank You!!
The other point John emphasizes we should be doing on a regular basis is to continue commenting on other people’s blogs. Doing this does help drive traffic to your website as well as it helps build back links and improves your ‘Alexa’ ranking. I actually try to visit at least 20 different blogs per week as well as I try to find 5 new ones to comment on too.
I have set up most of the blogs I visit into my ‘Google Reader’ account so that I am notified whenever someone makes a new post. This saves me heaps of time.
The final point John emphasizes to keep doing on a regular basis is writing and submitting articles. Yes Yes Yes. I know this is an important one and I still haven’t done it yet!!
I will get there. It IS on my list to do! So much to do and so little time! I need a clone!
The 3 points mentioned above are the main techniques that John uses to drive traffic to his products and websites.
On a side note I am actually looking forward to article writing now. I had a bit of a ‘AaHaa’ moment yesterday. I was reading in the ‘masterclass forum’ about another student who was having trouble with article writing as well. There were a lot of comments in the thread and the one that stuck out was from ‘John Edwards’ (Mr Edmeister!!
)
John pointed out that we had already written most of the content when we wrote our ebooks. All we need to do is take some content from a section in our books and re-edit it a little and we have a pre-written article!!
In the words of ‘Homer Simpson’ Dohh!!
It did not occur to me at all that I already have my content for my articles all I need to do is re write it!
Another suggestion from Paula Brett was that we can actually use our blog posts as articles as well!
OK Bimbo here needs some more coffee and chocolate to get her brain working again!
Thank You ‘Mr Edmeister’ for reminding me of the simplicity in some things! Here I was thinking I was going to have to write completely new content. I think that was another reason why I have been avoiding writing articles!
OK, lets get back to creating ‘Hoplink Adds’.
So, What is a hoplink add?
Answer. It is an advert you create about your website that can be distributed around the ‘Clickbank’ marketplace and used by affiliates on other sites. They are similar to the ‘Google Adsense’ concept. (And if you look directly to your right about now, you should see 3 of them in a purple border in my sidebar. These are hoplink adverts!)
The adds cost nothing to create and you are able to create up to 5 of them.
We are shown:
- How to log into our ‘Clickbank’ account and access the ‘My Adds’ page.
- How to create a new add
- How to build the add with our ‘Title’, ‘Keywords’, ‘Description’ etc.
- And how to save the changes
John recommends that we create the 5 different adverts so our potential affiliates have a choice of what adverts they want to use.
I am pretty sure ‘PayDotCom’ have the same concept, I do remember creating one when I first launched my product with them. ‘PayDotCom’ have a sidebar widget that you can install on your website and this is where the hoplink adverts can be displayed. (Similar to the clickbank widget.)
I had one of the widgets here a couple of months ago, but the code played up so I disabled it. I need to reinstall it again as I made a commission in January from it! ![]()
Week 28 Checklist:
Our checklist tasks for Week 28 were:
- Create 5 hoplink adverts
- Keep posting to our blogs
- Keep visiting other students and marketers blogs and make comments where appropriate
- Keep visiting blogs in our niche and make comments where appropriate (I still need to do this one! I need to do a little bit more on my spray tanning blog before I do.
) - Keep submitting articles to as many article directories as possible (Still need to do this one too!!)
- Visit the forum and communicate with fellow students
OK so that is Week 28 wrapped up.
So until next time……..
Enjoy Your Learning!

P.P.S John Thornhill’s Internet Marketing Masterclass Coaching may be closed at the moment. He has just started the new 2010 program and he only ever takes a limited amount of students at a time so as to dedicate himself to our learning, basically it is a first in first served situation.
Update 10/4/2010: John has just released a one month $4.95 trial to Masterclass meaning you can sign up for $4.95 and trial the training. As far as I know he is limiting these places. If you see a sold out sign, then do sign up to be notified when there are new places available again.
This training program was the best decision I ever made. I would not be doing what I am today if it wasn’t for John. I can not recommend this program enough!

Hi Nick,
Thank you for popping by!
That was my whole intention for writing the detailed summaries, to help others know what they are going to learn. John has changed this years course slightly, however, overall it is the same.
Soon I will be putting all my JT posts into a downloadable ebook. At the moment it is already 130 pages. As soon as I have posted up to week 36 the ebook will be ready. I think it will be good for list building.
Hope the course is going well for you. See you on your blog soon!
Jacinta

Hi Alan,
Thank you for popping by!
I am pleased most of this years students are enjoying my summaries. They do give you a heads up so to speak of what to expect and what is coming up.
I only have 8 more to go!! Woogoo Happy Dance. I will be pleased when writing this series is over even though I have enjoyed writing it. It has been like an online journal of my masterclass journey!
Good luck with the course. I will see you in the forum and on your blog soon!

Hi Jacinta,
This post’s summary of the course lesson is really enjoyable and I learned one thing or at least about it that I was previously unaware of.
CB ads are something that I was oblivious to.
Could it be that I’m warming up to the course you describe?
How much was it?
I’m not going to buy anything for a long time yet but this is starting to come up as something to consider in the future.
Talk soon,
Vance

Hi Vance,
I didn’t know about CB ads either, however they work like Google Adsense and they are great for affiliates to use instead of Google Adsense. Paydotcom use similar adverts for their widgets, They just use the summary you write for the marketplace as the advert.
Re John’s course I have price details on my training page. http://www.creatingmybusinessonline.com/my-masterclass-training
I am in the middle of organising bonuses for people that go through my link. I have access to some great DVD’s from an internet seminar, that I can give away I am just waiting for the masters to arrive. Plus I am going to give a whole heap of PLR stuff as well to help with the product building stage. And my extra coaching on the side. I am just in the middle of working it all out properly before I really heavily promote it all.
I am passionate about the course, and really believe it is perfect for people that don’t really have focus on how to operate a business online.
The total price is $1497, however he also gives us a whole heap of stuff as well, plus he has added more content this year that he didn’t include last year. Such as software for the Hoplink ads, and a report we can use for list building. There is a list of what he gives in the course on the training page.
He has also started a $1 trial to the course for a month and then if you decide to stay you are billed $49.97 per week for 36 weeks. It is a high ticket item, however it is a @40 week program.
Like you I have also promised myself that I would not buy anything more this year unless I felt it absolutely necessary. If you do decided to buy down the track let me know and I will help in any way I can.
See you on your blog soon!

Like Vance, I’m not buying much for a while but this is def on the radar for the future.
You certainly provide TONS of interesting content here…I’ll be back again soon.

Hi Rob,
Thank you for popping by!
No worries on providing the content about the course. This was my whole intention, to share what I have been learning, but to also give people an inside to the program that John teaches.
It is a great program, very well set out and very well structured and paced. He really does teach step by step with out rushing things so you don’t get over whelmed.
“Traffic Myth Unmasked” Interesting title for your new post! I will have to pop over to your blog soon!
Cheers

Hi Mr Edmeister,
Thank you for popping by!
I thought your idea was gold!!
When I realised we could use our ebook content as long as we edited it I had a bit of a “Bimbo” moment!!
Not only that Paula making comments about our blog posts being rehashed as articles as well!! Another gold nugget!!
I like simple solutions to things, it makes the whole process more enjoyable.
See you on your blog soon!

I’m with you on article writing jacinta _ I haven’t done any yet. I also haven’t written an eBook, but I agree with Paula. I’m going to use my blog posts for articles, by expanding some, and combining up others. Don’t forget my severe case of laziness however,so maybe this will happen this year……maybe.

Hi John,
One step and one task at a time!! And it doesn’t matter how long it takes, you will eventually do it when you are good and ready!
At the moment I am preparing a nearly 3 year olds birthday so I am not getting anything done except here.
As long as I do a little bit every day I am happy.
Had better get back to cleaning the house for party!
Cheers

Great points! Sometimes when I look around I can find some free information that is more valuable than some paid ebook or video course. Thanks for providing this info

I wish you luck with it.

Hi George,
Thank you for popping by!
I am pleased the new students are finding my posts helpful. That was my whole point, so you would have an idea of what is coming up.
I am looking forward to the post being put together as an ebook. I do think it will do well for list building for me. List building is something I still really need to focus on. So much to do and so little time at the moment!
I will see you on your blog soon!

Hi Kathy,
Thank you for popping by!
I am a couple of posts behind. I had bubba’s birthday over the last week. I am actually in the middle of writing up Week 29′s summary now and am hoping to upload it over the next couple of days.
Re the replies. It is a plugin called ‘WordPress thread comment’
I have to get around to everyone’s blogs soon!
Hope all is going well.

Press releases are the country cousin of articles but don’t underestimate their power. Press releases are very similar to articles and can reap you the same type of benefits.
