jtmaster

Hello All,

Welcome to Week 5 Part A of John Thornhill’s Internet Marketing Training Masterclass Coaching Program.

I thought it was about time I continued with the summaries of my internet business training with John Thornhill. Week 5 was a very big week. We received 14 videos to watch plus a big list of tasks to do so I will be breaking up week 5 into 2 posts for easier reading.

This last week my little one has been a bit sick so I have not been able to do much work, however she is sleeping st the moment so I will try and get as much done as I can! :D

So lets begin with Week 5′s tasks…….

Marketing Masterclass Week 5: Adding Graphics To Our Blogs

Week 5 is all about adding graphics to our blogs and improving the look of the blogs to personalize them and make them individual to our own styles.

As mentioned before this week is big  , we were sent our welcome letter for the week, our checklist and we had 14 videos to download and watch to learn what tasks we needed to do for the week.

Video 1: Introduction From John

The first video we were sent was an introduction from John to tell us that his assistant and support manager Danial Sumner was going to be taking us through this weeks videos. We are also asked to send links of our blogs to John so he can review them and give us any advice or suggestions on improving them.

Video 2: Save Our Blog Graphics

logs In this video Daniel shows us the basics of how to save and extract/open the graphic files we received from Planet Divinity from our emails to our computer hard drive.

We are shown:

  1. How to save the files from our email to our masterclass folder
  2. How to extract/unzip the files
  3. And how to open/view the files

Video 3: Adding Our Header And Footer Graphics To Our Blogs Part 1

In this video Daniel shows us how to change our blog themes standard header and footer graphic to the customized ones we received from Planet Divinity.

We are shown:

  1. How to connect to our webspace via File Zilla
  2. How to find our “wp-content” folder
  3. How to find and open our “themes” folder
  4. How to open our individual themes folders eg; “Prosense Blue” and then open the “images” folder within that theme.
  5. How to access our header and footer graphic from our computer hard drive that we need to upload from the left column in File Zilla
  6. And how to upload the graphic image files into each individual themes images folder

It is important to upload the header and footer graphic images to the 3 different themes folders just in case we decide to change the themes later on.

Video 4: Adding Our Header And Footer Graphic Part 2

In this video Daniel shows us how to edit our “CSS Style-sheet” to our theme from within our blogs admin panel so that we can display our new header and footer graphic image on our blogs.

We are shown:

  1. How to find the “CSS Style-sheet” in our ‘Appearance/Editor’ tab from our blogs dashboard
  2. How to save the ‘CSS Style-sheet’ to text file in case we have future edit problems
  3. How to find the ‘Header’ section of the style-sheet
  4. How to edit the size of the header
  5. How to find the ‘Footer’ section of our style-sheet
  6. How to edit the footer image location to the new footer graphic
  7. How to save our edits
  8. How to check if our edit changes were successful
  9. And how to fix any edit problems if they occurred

Video 5: Remove Titles From Our Blog Banner

In this video Daniel showed us how to remove our default titles from our blog header banner.

We are shown:

  1. How to login to our ‘General Settings’ of our blog from our dashboard
  2. How to delete the default blog title
  3. How to delete the default tagline
  4. How to open our ‘Header Style-sheet’ from with in the ‘Appearance/Editor’ tab
  5. How to save our ‘Header Style-sheet’ to text file in case we have any editing problems occur
  6. How to find the ‘Title’ section of the ‘Header Style-sheet’ template
  7. How to edit the title and write in our own blog title’s
  8. How to save our settings
  9. How to check if our edits were successful
  10. And how to make changes if we had edit problems

Video 6: How To Customize Or Remove The RSS Button

In this video Daniel shows us how to remove our RSS image that appears as default over our graphic header of our blog.

We are shown:

  1. How to login to the ‘Header Style-sheet’ from the ‘Appearance/Editor’ tab from with in our blogs dashboard
  2. How to save the text in case we have any editing problems or want to change it back at a later stage
  3. How to find the section of the header template we need to delete
  4. How to save our edit changes
  5. How to check if our edit changes were successful
  6. And how to fix any problems if need be

Video 7: Backing Up Our Blog

In this video Daniel shows us how to back up and save our blog posts. The last thing we want to have happen after hours of creating content for our blogs is to loose all of our data. Just like a hard drive there can be rare times when our website could crash. This could occur from installing incorrect script or unsuccessful upgrade etc, so backing up our blog data is just like backing up our data on our computers hard drive.

Daniel shows us:

  1. How to access the ‘Tools’ tab in our blogs dashboard
  2. How to export and save our blog file as an ‘xml’ file
  3. And how to import and re install our blog back up if any problems arise

Video 8: Upgrading Our Blog

In this video Daniel shows us how to upgrade our blog. WordPress are regularly updating their content management software for numerous reasons such as improving blog security, fixing any technical bugs that may have been found, improving client usability etc etc.

To make sure our blog platforms are secure it is important to upgrade them as new stable versions become available.

We are shown:

  1. How to back up and save the most recent version of our blog (eg most recent post) as shown in the last video
  2. How to find the ‘Upgrade’ tab
  3. And how to upgrade automatically from with in our blogs dashboard

There is another way to upgrade our blogs. We could download the latest version from wordpress.org and then upload the files to our webspace via File Zilla and overwriting the older files. The way that Daniel teaches us is the easy way to do it! :D

Week 2 Checklist:

Our checklist tasks for Week 5 Part A were:

  1. Email our blog details to John
  2. Save our blog graphics from Planet Divinity to our computer
  3. Add our graphics header and footer to our blogs
  4. Remove our default titles from our blog header banner
  5. Edit our header page to include our blog title on the page tab
  6. Back up our blogs
  7. Upgrade our blogs if need be

OK so that is Part A of Week 5 wrapped up. The first 8 videos were compulsory learning. In the next post I will write about the optional viewing additional videos we were sent.

So until next time……..

Enjoy Your Learning!

P.P.S John Thornhill’s Internet Marketing Masterclass Coaching may be closed at the moment. He has just started the new 2010 program and he only ever takes a limited amount of students at a time so as to dedicate himself to our learning, basically it is a first in first served situation.

Update 10/4/2010: John has just released a one month $4.95 trial to Masterclass meaning you can sign up for $4.95 and trial the training. As far as I know he is limiting these places. If you see a sold out sign, then do sign up to be notified when there are new places available again.

This training program was the best decision I ever made. I would not be doing what I am today if it wasn’t for John. I can not recommend this program enough! :D

  1. Hello Jacinta,

I receive message from John with a link to his site promoting his new software. He shows how it will work and now I see the difference between WordPress and MultiProfitWebsite.
I think we’ll need it because John says to make money we need many sites.
Thank you for your comment about Disclaimer!
I installed it on my blogs as well :)

BTW, my second blog is http://buildmusclesmart.com

    Hi Anatoly,

Thank you for popping past!

Multi Profit Websites is an awesome set up. Support is excellent, I had to ask for help yesterday. Plus they have just added a whole heap of bonuses including, Tweet Dynamite, Total Web Traffic, Lifetime membership to Plr Monthly, Lifetime membership to Mentorship monthly, Your software website and Your ebook website. Brilliant Bonuses. I just have to load the bonus page up.

The program is well worth the purchase!

No worries on letting you know about the disclaimer. That is what fellow students are for! :P

See you on your blog soon!
