Welcome to Week 27 of John Thornhill’s Internet Marketing Training Masterclass Coaching Program.

Another week has passed again! Already we are into the second week of April, where is this year going! :oops:

My little 2 year old will be 3 next week! I may have to change my heading. At the moment I am madly organising a birthday party and trying to get pony rides for her  and her friends, plus we have just had Easter and my brother just got married over the weekend! It has been one very busy week! :shock:

So did you get yourself a copy of “John’s 72 Hour Madness” that I mentioned in my last post? I did! :P

I am really looking forward to the phone call coaching. That was the main reason I bought in. Having just seen people selling coaching programs for over $5,000 at the last seminar I went to I jumped at the chance for the ‘one to one’ coaching opportunity. I don’t think John realised what he did when he offered that! ;)

The next thing I would like to mention before I talk about this weeks training tasks is Randy Smith’s new freebie. “Easy Product Creation” (Not an affiliate link). I just finished writing up the transcriptions to the videos that Randy is offering for free and I must say the videos are fantastic. I learned a heap of information as I was transcribing.

There are 6 videos and they are all about creating your own unique products from using private label rights materials. You are shown how to create different products from private label articles, ebooks, reports, audios, videos and software. They are very easy to follow plus the pdf’s that go with them are awesome! (That is because I did them! :lol: )

I guess I had better talk about this weeks training. As I write this I still have not started ‘Article Writing’. The last 2 weeks have been incredibly busy and I have been trying to pre write up some of the training summaries again from my transcribed notes.

The other thing I have been doing the last couple of weeks is spending time in the ‘Masterclass’ forum. All the new students have been slowly introducing themselves and it has been really great checking out a lot of their blogs. Some of the students are already ahead of the game and have some fantastic websites. Some of them have been online for a while and others are complete newbies.

It is great seeing a lot more women in this years class as well. At the moment they are up to Week 9. I have been following along reading this years transcriptions and already John has introduced a whole heap of new content. In week 5 we were given free access to “Clickbank Adrotator” (This product has been added this year for free, I actually paid for it last year! :shock: ) And in week 6 we were given a report to use as an incentive for blog sign ups. (I will set mine up over the next few weeks.)

As soon as I have finished writing up my summaries for 2009 I will do some follow up posts on the new content for this years class.

OK. Enough rambling, I had better get on with writing up Week 27′s summary, so here it is……………………..

Posting To Forums And Blogs


This week John introduced us to more traffic generation techniques. We were sent our welcome letter for the week and a checklist of tasks to do. There were no videos! Woohoo! :lol:


Week 27 : Summary


Writing articles is only one of many different ways to drive traffic to our website. Other ways that we can generate interest for people to visit our websites is by visiting forums in our chosen niche.

Networking in forums is a great way to connect with people that we have a common interest with. To find forums in our niche all we have to do is write our ‘keyword’ followed by the word ‘forum’ in a ‘Google’ search.

For example: “Spray Tanning + forum”

A list of forums should show up!

Before posting in forums it is important to read the rules of the forum and abide by them to avoid being kicked out. According to John, the top rule of all forums is to avoid anything that could be seen as spamming. In other words do not promote in every post.

You need to participate before you start promoting. Most forums allow you to use a signature when you post, this is where you can place your website link, but check the rules first.

Another way to generate traffic is to find other blog sites in your niche and make comments where appropriate. To find blogs in your niche simply do a ‘Google’ search like before for your ‘keyword’ and ‘blog’.

For example: ‘Spray Tanning + blog’

When commenting on other blogs make sure that you write more than just ‘Nice Blog’. It is important to join in on the conversation. Have a read of a couple of posts before you make any comments and when you do decided to comment remember to be genuine and informative as well as include a link to your site where appropriate.

Another thing to do before you actually post a comment is to check if the blog has commenting rules. Be sure to follow any rules the blog has as most blog owners will manually check each comment before they are posted and you don’t want to end up in the spam filter!

I actually have rules on my blog. I don’t mind people leaving links to their sites or products as long as they are the owner of them. I do check every link and every website. The one thing I don’t allow is affiliate links. As far as I am concerned my website is for me to share information and recommendations so I only have affiliate links on here to products that I have had personal contact with and like.

If people are using links to their own products and I don’t think the product is appropriate to promote from my website, then I will remove their link.

Blog commenting is a great way to network, meet new people and drive traffic. I have met some amazing people in my blogging travels and I highly highly recommend it. I am always learning something new every blog I visit! :D


Week 27 Checklist:


Our checklist tasks for week 27 were:

  1. Start posting in forums related to our niche

  2. Start posting on blogs related to our niche

  3. Write more articles and submit them (We should be doing this at least once a week. I haven’t even done my first one yet! :oops: )

  4. Continue visiting the Masterclass Forum and communicate with our fellow students

  5. Continue visiting fellow students and marketers blogs and make comments where appropriate

    Randy’s videos were great. They are actually perfect for Masterclass right now as they will compliment what John is teaching.

    Yes on the 17 weeks!! I am still in the middle of writing up my summaries. I should hopefully have the last 9 up soon, then I can get into my ‘Seminar Speaker’ series and other stuff I want to start doing.

    So much to do and so little time, especially around little one.

    I am still on week 8 and 9 looking for a niche! Got all these kids here and sometimes I don’t get a minute to even sit down much less research!
    I like coming over here and seeing what’s coming up in the class! Looks a little intimidating, but I know if you are over there doing it, I can too!
    I have been posting on blogs for a while now. Some folks have some really cool blogs! There is so much information out there!
    Hope all is well with you and the little one!

    Hi Lisa,

    I wouldn’t worry on being on week 8 and 9 and definitely don’t worry about what is coming up, it really isn’t that intimidating just time consuming which is hard around kids!! :oops:

    One step and task at a time is my moto, no matter how long it takes me. Little one is good. She is turning 3 in just over a week!!

    Thank you for the kind words. I wrote my posts with the intention to help the new students and existing ones. I am about to collate them all into a giveaway pdf.

  3. Great post as usual Jacinta, I think I will sign up for Randy’s product creation course as well.

    While I’m here, I seem to recall you had some problem with your ComLuv links redirecting to feedburner… was that you?

    Anyway, I was wondering if you could tell me how to sort it out, I’ve just installed the “FD Feedburner Plugin” recently and that is what is happening to my links now. (hover over my comluv link below to see what I mean)

    I’ve disabled the plugin and hoped that would so sort it, but it hasn’t.

    I was going to delete the plugin to see if that works, but I’m not sure if I should that in case it messes the links up all together.

    Please let me know, if you know how to fix it.

    I am still having the problem with Comluv, I have never been able to link up my site to my profile for some reason. I tried deleting my account and creating a new one etc etc, but nothing worked. I even sent an email to their support and got nothing!

    I do think it is a problem with the fact that I have my feed with feedburner, however I have chosen to keep my feed with feed burner as it helps with statistics.

    Truthfully it is all a bit confusing for me, so I haven’t worried about it since, especially after I heard nothing from them. Maybe you might have more success! I am hoping!!! ;)

    I see you have a new blog post! cool! :cool:

    My problem was just with the links it was leaving for my posts, but it’s working again now I’ve disabled the feedburner plugin I had installed.

    So this time I can get a proper link back to my site below, instead of it linking to google feedproxy.

    I don’t think I can help with the comluv situation you’re having, as I registered my account with no trouble, so not sure what’s wrong there?

    Its great to see your doing so well following johns masterclass
    you seem well disciplined and its bound to pay off ,
    this working online is a heck of a lot harder than people think
    it seems to be getting harder for me I am spending way more than I am earning, you seem to be on the right track though and with all the work you put in you deserve it.
    I bought Johns 72 hr madness ,the phone calls were just to tempting to miss out on ,mind you all of johns stuff is sound
    im just freaking out a bit over phoning him ” im very nervy when it comes to talking on the phone”

    I completely agree!!! This working online stuff is a lot harder than people think! It takes a lot of time, money, determination and focus!!. I am getting there slowly.

    I think the best thing is that studying from John has taught me the basics of everything and I can only grow from there. I have a heap of ideas for future websites, however one step and one task at a time. I am not rushing anything anymore. ;)

    Yes on John’s promotion. Those calls were too tempting. I still don’t think he has realised what he has done. I think most of us bought for the phone calls!! :)

    Don’t be nervy on phoning him. Get your questions sorted before hand and have a plan on how you want the calls to go. Treat the calls as John being your personal coach for 8 weeks to help you improve your business. That is what I am going to do!.

    Had better get back to the studies. I will see you on your blog soon! :cool:

    I ended up borrowing a friends computer. My computer wouldn’t work with Skype so I have no idea what is wrong with it. something the tech guys can sort out for me at a later stage.

    Glad it worked out for you. It is annoying not knowing how to sort out the ‘comluv’ account situation. I joined up after watching James Howard video on linking your website to your comluv account, however for some reason my website isn’t linked when I hover over the comluv icon on other people’s sites and it says I am not a member.

    I got confused and annoyed, I am sure I will work it out at some point. At least the comluv side of things still works.

    You can still set up your feed to go through feedburner. You can do it without using the plugin, just do it directly through feedburner and add the code to your main template page.

  7. I see you’re still hard at work Jacinta…..I haven’t started article writing yet, but I’m bearing this in mind when I write blog posts. Two connected blog posts = 1 article.

    Thanks for reminding me about forums. I will look up the comic collectors forums. I have comics for sale also my paintings of superheroes. Being a full time nerd, I will also enjoy talking about comics. :-) Just seen the film ‘Kick Ass’ and it was brilliant.

    I haven’t looked at the forums yet for niche either. I have had too much to do in the learning and foundations department for everything else. I guess I have been focusing more on developing this blog as a solid content source and then I will continue with my niche stuff at a later stage.

    So much to do and so little time! :oops:

    I agree on the blog posts for articles. I hadn’t thought of that until Paula suggested it. all we have to do is tweek what we have already written. I saw another cool traffic generation technique the other day to do with ‘Youtube’, however I still have to learn ‘Camtasia’ yet! :roll:
