Hello Fellow Newbie Internet Business People!

It is that time again for me to post. I am a few days late this week. I got caught up with the beginnings of the silly season and right now I am nursing a sore toe from trying to move a couch and wearing the wrong shoes!! That will teach me!!

And to top it off for the last week I have also been nursing an injured puppy that joined my family and my other dog has already tried to eat it!

So this week I have not been able to get much work done on the internet side of things. I have actually just been reading and doing some final editing to my spray tanning training manual that is yet to be re-released.

So for this post I thought I would continue on with my story of how I started online…..

I left off telling you about how I began on eBay so continuing on from there. I used the first 2 months on eBay and the first 50 items I sold as my learning before actually listing my spray on tanning equipment packages.  It was during this time that I had the opportunity to attend an eBay seminar by Adam Ginsberg (I think I have spelled his name correct). He is one of eBay’s Titanium PowerSellers which is over $20,000 per month in sales I think.

This seminar was excellent and showed me the opportunity of what eBay is. I learned so much in the short three hours but I had a light bulb moment and realized I was on the right path even though I was moving at a snails pace.

I sold my first spray tan package November 2005.  Then for the next 6 months I sold spray tanning solution and spray tanning equipment packages on eBay and made a nice little part-time income, some weeks I was earning more than my day job.

While I was selling my packages I was asked regularly to sell my manual separately. At first I didn’t want to do this as it was dedicated to the machine I was selling, however I soon realized the potential of selling the manual on its own due to the constant inquiries I was receiving.

So after hours and hours of work, creating pictures of how to’s and adding more information to it. I made the manual more general to the industry to include the most popular machines and training techniques. I started selling the manual in a printed format by May 2006.

My manual was sold all over the world and was really popular. After costs I was making about $15 profit each manual so that wasn’t too bad. Spray Tanning is a niche industry so I wasn’t selling masses of the manual but I was averaging about 5 per week at the time. The way I figured it, is that it was a nice little extra income stream on top of what I was already selling in the way of solution and equipment packages.
