Tagging Your Posts
Hello All,
I just thought I would write a very quick post this morning as I only have about an hour before I have to pick my little one up from occasional care, but I thought I would share my new found knowledge with you.
As you know I am very new to this whole internet marketing thing and as far as I am concerned I still have no idea what I am doing!
However in the Thirty Day Challenge they have been talking about tagging and I have discovered from yesterday that this stuff actual works!!
To explain a little further:
The browser that I use is Firefox and I have installed a plugin called “Search Status” to the browser that was recommended in preseason in 30DC (Thirty Day Challenge). The plugin shows up in the bottom of the browser and gives you the page rank and Alexa ranking of the website you are visiting.
Now back to yesterday:
After watching some of my training videos about blogging, article writing and different web 2.0 sites I noticed that every time the trainers wrote an article they placed tags at the end of the article or post before submitting them.
What is a Tag? A simple answer for a tag is that they are keywords. These tags (or keywords) can be singular words or phrases such as “Internet Marketing”, “Spray Tanning”, “Blogging”, “John Thornhill” etc etc. Basically after you write your post or article you have a look/read of it and think what are the main keywords or subjects you have talked about.
For example if your post or article has been about the subject “Spray Tanning”. Then your tags (keywords) would be “Spray Tanning”, “Spray Tan”, “Spray On Tan”, “Spray On Tanning”. If you mentioned sunless tanning in the article then that would be another keyword tag or phrase to use.
OK. So are you following me so far?
Yesterday after watching my videos I decided to have a look at all my old posts on my blog and pretty them up a little. I also had a read of them and added in some tags.
Today so far:
After jumping online and visiting my blog I noticed my Alexa ranking has changed. Yesterday my ranking was something like 5,125,789 and today it is 4,411,813. My little website has jumped up in ranking by @700,000 over night just by doing a little tagging!!!!!
Now considering there are over 13,000,000 websites on the internet alone or something crazy like that. (I am not exactly sure of the right statistics.) That is not a bad effort on my part. So as you can see I am a little proud of myself and doing a little happy dance!!
So in summary to this post I highly recommend that you add those tags to your articles and to your posts.
Must away… Have to go pick up little one…..
So until next time……

Hi Jacinta, Excellent post. I tagged all my posts a few weeks ago (quite a task!) on the recommendation of a fellow MC student. Glad it has shown some results for you.
Enjoy the journey.
