The 100 Blog Comment Challenge Update!
Hello All,
Just a quick post to keep you up to date on how we are going with my little challenge I started from my bimbo comment in a forum. 
Phase 1 is done!
We have 102 members that have joined the challenge!

Now for Phase 2! The Blog Hopping!
The challenge is running until the 31st of August which means we all have 10 days to make sure we complete our commitment to the challenge and visit all the members contributing blog posts, have a read, make a comment and socially book mark the post along the way! 
Not a big task really! Yeah Right!
101 Blogs to visit in 10 days! I am nuts!
So far I have visited the first 4 on the list, 96 to go!
I am taking a table as I go to mark off the members comments as I visit each blog. I want to make sure that everyone is doing the right thing by the challenge and actually visiting each others blogs.
(I feel like I am back teaching college again when I used to have to grade the students exams! I had better get some strong coffee and chocolate for the week! I have 101 blogs to grade! Oops on that one! )
I actually have to visit each blog twice!
Now for my own blog hopping, reading and commenting and the second time will be the first week of September when the challenge is over to do a final tally!
Boy do I have my work cut out for me! 
(Hubby and bubba already think my fingers are glued to the keyboard!)
I will be really interested in the results as I go!
Fingers crossed everyone does the right thing and gets around to everyone’s dedicated blog post for the challenge and comments by the end of August!
That way we will all succeed together!
Well that is the plan anyway!
It is now up to the challengers if we all succeed or not! 
The one thing I have noticed already is the drops in Alex rankings for some of the blogs. This is unbelievable!
Alex Fyfe’s blog has dropped over @8.5 million! What an amazing result all from the power of blog commenting!
I have also noticed so far just from the 4 blogs I have visited the amazing sense of community. Everyone is joining in on the conversation and really contributing to the blog post, plus the blog owners are replying to the comments which is bringing people back to continue the conversation!
This is awesome!
However I have also noticed a few comments from people missing even though I know they have been commenting. I must remind people to check their spam folders just in case some people’s comments are ending up there by mistake.
I have “Akismet” installed. It is an excellent spam control plugin however it sometimes places people’s comments in the spam queue when they don’t need to be!
I have had to fish a few people out of there.
Yes Randy Smith if you are reading this, you did end up in the spam queue!
Ok! So like I said before this is just a quick update for you!
Now it is time for me to get back to my own blog hopping! 96 blogs to go and then back around again!
I am going to be blog hopping in my sleep!

Your the best!! Social bookmarking everyone 3 times!
I have started my blog hoping. It is going to take me the week!
Then at the end of the first week of September I will go around again and tally up the numbers. That way there is a grace of a few days for the late comers to the challenge.
I never realise the magnitude of the work load that this challenge has created for everyone. It has been a fantastic idea, however it has also been very time consuming! Oops on that one. I think that will be everyone’s complaint, the actual time we have had to dedicate to the blog hopping side of things.
I will post the results in the forum for you.

It has definitely been an interesting journey this challenge of mine. Not a bad bimbo moment although I don’t think I want to know what I will think of for an encore!
Some of the contributors blogs are amazing. As you know I have started my blog hoping rounds. The inspiration and content is awesome. We are all inspiring each other as well us teaching ourselves a thing or two!

Thanks for the update and for driving this great challenge!! Must be a pain administering it but one consolation is that you really have created something great here and fostered a superb community spirit which we will all benefit from moving forwards.
I was thinking that we should try and get say a 50/100 monthly challenge going but do appreciate the work involved – perhaps we should rotate it around everyone to administer as would certainly encourage some great sharing of ideas and techniques whilst also keeping visitor numbers up for everyone – would be interesting to see what people think?!

No Worries on the update! Thank you for popping by!
I still have 60 blogs to get around to by the weekend and then I would like to email everyone to let them know how it has gone so far.
I have found quite a few people have not commented on a lot of blogs yet. I don’t know whether that is because of time constrictions, or whether they have commented and people haven’t updated their blogs or checked their spam filters.
I will have to go back around again the first week of September to re do a tally.
If we do the challenge again from the 100 blog comment point of view it probably won’t happen for a few months yet, however I have had some inquiries to continue on a smaller scale, just got to work out how to do that so everyone benefits and it isn’t the big workload it is.
I want to survey everyone at the end of this, so it will be interesting to see what everyone thinks then and how I can continue the process.
At the moment my hubby thinks I have abandoned him and my bubba told me to get back to work the yesterday when I was sitting on the couch having a break. Oops on that one!
Had better get back to the blog hopping!

Hmmmmm Red Bull! I need a few of those, I have been maxed out on chocolate truffles and coffee!
Where do I get the energy??? Ha Ha. I feel like I have tooth picks holding up my eyes.
Big thing with me is I am a big one on commitment and once I commit to something I always complete it, no matter how long it takes.
However note to self, may not create such BIG challenges next time! Oops on that one!

All I can say is Wow! I don’t know how you’ve managed to keep on top of all this on top of everything else you have to do, being the mum of a little one. I think I still have around 60 blogs to visit, I started at the bottom and am working my way up, I thought that way the ones who joined last would at least be seeing a bit of action while they’re waiting for all those who are working their way down to reach them.
I’m sure there must be times when you regret that you ever made your ‘bimbo comment’ but it was a brilliant idea and everyone seems to be enjoying it and benefiting from it, so thank you very much for the idea and all your hard work.
What is it that Akismet doesn’t like about Randy, he ended up in my spam folder too, lol.

Hmmm on the bimbo comment! Yes it was a good one, however I had no idea on the work load it was going to create! Definite Oops on that one!
Re the spam, I think a few people have ended up in spam folders and people haven’t realised. Hopefully everyone will check them.

I like Akismet because it checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not and lets you review the spam it catches under your blog’s “Comments” admin screen

I like Akismet too!! However it can spam normal comments as well. The thing is most people do not check their spam folders and just do an automatic delete.

OK Cool,
Just make sure you get around to everyone’s blogs as soon as you can within the next few days, I have noticed that you still have quite a few to go.
I am doing a table and checking on everyone’s blogs everyday.
Actually everyone still has quite a few to go, including me!
Just check with Thu that you can use the graphics as part of your challenge. She may want to join yours as well.
I will warn you, monitoring the challenge has been one big work load! Get ready for it! Especially if you get 101 on board!

Thank You so much for setting this challenge up. It has been hard work but I have managed to get round to everyone’s blog. PHEWWWW!!!
It has been great seeing other peoples blogs and what they are up to. I have also learned quite alot along the way and made a few new contacts for future projects.
I even learnt how to make my fingers longer????????? And no that’s not from all the typing I have done.
Everyone has been very kind to leave good comments on my blog and I really do appreciate it.
So thanks again and maybe keep the next challenge away for a couple of months.

I do hope everyone gets around to everyone’s blogs soon! I am still going around and checking on everyone’s comments. I have noticed a few missing from people I know whom have commented so I do hope people are checking their spam folders.
It really is up to the contributors now the level of success that everyone has. Inspiring people to join the challenge has been one thing. The hard part is getting everyone to follow through with their commitment.
Fingers Crossed! I have faith!
I completely agree on not having another one for a few months. My hubby and bubba think my fingers are glued to the keyboard and my butt is stuck to my chair! I would be divorced if I did another one again straight away. Maybe wait 4 months or so.
I want to survey the completed challengers at the end of the month to see what their feedback will be on the regularity of something like this.

I am playing catch up, but trust me I am racing ya for the blog comments and I am hot on your heels ha ha.
I too have noticed some people have benefited from lots of comments, but not did “their bit” and visited other blogs, which is a real shame.
Kick their a$$, it’s not fair to receive and not give back.
Most people are putting a lot of effort into this challenge and deserve an extra reward, I for one will be noticing those who do and don’t post!
I am seeing this out to the bitter end, even if it kills me ha ha.

I have 21 blogs to go!! Woo Hoo! Should finish them by later today!
However I then have to go back around again to make sure I have socially book marked, plus add people’s comments to the table.
I do agree there have been people that have signed up and then got side tracked. I am a big believer in giving people the benefit of the doubt and I do hope everyone will honour their commitment to the challenge.
I think maybe due to holidays people have become a little side tracked etc etc and some have had life situations arise, although in saying that it is all about commitment.
This challenge has certainly taught me about commitment and the types marketers that people will be.
I intend on listing the completed blogs by the end of September and honouring those that completed the challenge. Plus showing results that I have noticed happen with Alexa.
Some of the blogs rankings have dropped amazingly which is awesome! It is then up to them to keep the traffic generation techniques going to continually improve their blogs!
Had better get back to hopping!

Hi Jacinta,
OOOOOOPs – My fingers have gone into autopilot and they’re pressing keys without my brain having any involvelment sorry about that.
There were 2 sites that I couldn’t access during the challenge even though I did try on several occasions.
1 shamekap.com No 50 on the challenge states the website you are visiting is currently experiencing difficulties.
2 jeremiahcarstarphen.com No 59 on the challenge. The link on the challenge list goes to a blank page, I’ve tried going in manually on to his blog but it just takes you toa 2k in 10 days page and on the blog there is no mention of the comment entered into the challenge.
Has anyone else come across this problem and if so is there a cure?
If there is a Ill go back to the sites and comment if not then YAHOO (I’ve completed the challenge and I feel good).
It’s been an absolutely fantastic experience, I’ve loved every minute of it so thank you so much for the opportunity to be involved.

I have noticed those 2 sites having problems. I have no idea what is happening to them, I have checked a couple of times.
I will try and email them and let them know.
Glad you loved the challenge and you have gained heaps from it. I plan on doing some more challenges soon, however I think I am going to take a couple of weeks off first. Hubby thinks my fingers are glued to the keyboard!

I am confident I will have all blogs visited by tomorrow – even though I started YESTERDAY! Queen of the Procrastinators has struck again!
I just hope that everyone understands that actually, the real benefit comes from leaving posts and YOUR backlinks and keywords on other blogs – so if someone hasn’t commented on your blog (or anyone else’s) they aren’t really getting any benefit other than a post with a bunch of comments
So it’s to everyone’s benefit to comment on all the blogs whether reciprocated or not!!
Jacinta – of course on Aug 31, there will be a big “Well that’s over, so, now what?” cloud hovering over all our heads…. what does the great bimbo have planned to answer that question?

The great bimbo is going to have a couple of days off because hubby thinks my fingers are glued to the keyboard!
I do hope that everyone does eventually get to everyone’s blogs. I don’t think everyone will actually complete the challenge. I have been around to most of the blogs now, I am taking a tally as I go and I have noticed quite a few missing comments.
I am not sure whether people’s comments have ended up in the spam folders or whether some people have started the challenge and then found it too hard and time consuming.
I had no idea the workload this was going to create!
It has been awesome and there have been some amazing blogs that have joined up. I am sure pe0ple were getting lost in blogs for hours!
I do have some ideas for some other challenges, similar to the ones you had joined, eg 30 blog posts 30 days etc etc.
I will be looking for more of a mastermind type group to get involved with these challenges. They are more about encouraging each other to do more.
I will let you know in the next couple couple of weeks. I actually want to set up something where every month there is a challenge, but on a much more smaller scale than the blog comment challenge.

Hi Jacinta,
You have such great ideas. I think I have about 20 more blogs to go – but I’ll have to do that tomorrow (yes, it’s still Aug 30 here so I have time!). This one was easy, but definitely time consuming. I’m not sure if it was easier than the 30 posts challenge or not. But it’s definitely going to be very, very beneficial in the long run.
Also – some comments may have not been approved when you visited. I’m getting some “thank you” emails now… and I just approved a bunch of my own comments. So that can be why you see some missing.
If you can do monthly challenges to help us better our blog and presence on the web… that would be so fantastic!!!

I still have 8 to go I think now!
I have been getting a few emails asking about extending the challenge as I get the feeling not everyone will get them all done.
I am going to try and do the official final tally in a couple of days so there will be a few days grace.
I will chat to you more about the blog post challenge you did in about a weeks time. Maybe you could give some ideas of some product creation challenges as well????
Food for thought.
What I really want is a team of people where we can share ideas and challenge each other with the ideas. A bit like a mastermind group, sort of, I think?
Basically a bunch of people all doing challenges together.

Woo Hoo Happy Dance!
I finished the blog commenting at 11pm and finished twittering everyone at 11.59pm last night. I just made it so to speak!
I do think a few people will be commenting still over the next few days so I am going to allow a weeks grace before writing about the official results.
Plus I need to contact the blogs that are having problems. I think it is 45, 50 & 59.
Good to know you are on board for other potential challenges. I am recruiting a few people. It would be good if one month you create a challenge idea, then Steve creates a challenge idea, next I create a challenge idea etc etc.
That is why I only want a select group of people involved so we can all motivate each other.
I will write about it more and chat to everyone that is interested towards the end of the month. I was thinking of challenges involving web 2, different product creation methods, traffic generation stuff, list building etc etc.
Before then I need some well deserved sleep!!

You really started something with this challenge Jacinta, everyone has benefited from your idea AND hard work.
My blog visitors are at the highest level ever, more than double the normal amount at 2,312, so thanks a lot for that.
A confession Jacinta – I haven’t socially bookmarked anyone, because I don’t know how to do it? I Have a plugin that puts a “share” button on the end of each post. Do I just click that and choose Facebook or Twitter? Do I have to fill anything in?

You just caught me! was about to sign off for the night and get some sleep!
I wonder what that is? Haven’t had much the last month! 
I only just finished my blog hopping 2 hours ago.
Re social bookmarking. At this stage all I have done is twitter all the blog posts. I do plan on doing facebook like, stumble upon and digg for everyone that I can over the next few days.
I need to go back around to everyone’s blogs by the end of the week to tally up the comments. I get the feeling a few people are going to spill over over the next few days!
If you have a twitter account, to make it easy just twitter everyone’s posts if you can. I just did everyone’s in the last hour.
Not exactly the right way to do it, should have done it as I was commenting however I will retweet everyone again to make up for it!
Next week I want to get as much traffic info from everyone that I can as well. I want to do a post on the results of the challenge in about 2 weeks.

I get the feeling a few people will still be commenting over the next few days.
This has been a lot bigger than everyone gave it credit for, however it has been awesome!
My fingers are hurting and my mind is mush plus I think I could sleep for a week!
I will be going back around to everyone’s blogs over the next few days to still tally the comments as I think some people have been away on holiday etc as well.

I think a few people are a little behind with their commenting. I am hoping everyone that is going to honour the challenge tries to finish with in a week.

The challenge was pretty exciting, very busy and very time consuming!
However, there were awesome blogs to visit and some amazing people to meet, plus an amazing sense of community was born.
